Soul-slider
A piece of class called "TEAR IT DOWN" penned by Ashford and Simpson. single/album? unnisued? cheers.. Hi Paul, Album only - 'In The Groove' Tamla 285 (sometimes issued in the USA with different cover as 'Heard It Through Grapevine). 1968. Also, if you scour the boot sales, came out on a MFP Sounds Superb album 'How Sweet It Is'. Edited April 1, 2007 by Soul-Slider Link to comment Social source share
Guest MBarrett
I have the "In the Groove" album as TML 11091 (also available as STML 11091) I remember to this day buying it from the remainders box in W.H.Smith circa 1971. One of my favourite albums I ever bought. Just put it on now to brighten up my Sunday morning. Not a bad track on it!!! MB Link to comment Social source share

Sean Hampsey
"Tear It On Down" is a track I used to rave about to my mates back in 72 / 73.... back when they only had ears for the Superlatives etc. Great to see it getting a mention on here! A Magnificent record. Sean Link to comment Social source share
Guest MBarrett
Only when I saw post 4 above I remembered I have another copy of In The Groove on that "2 on 1" CD - coupled with Moods of Marvin Gaye. There is a good review of both albums here Interesting that they specifically mention "Tear it on down" as follows: The killer track on this album has to be 'Tear It On Down' a classic piece of Motown magic that has Marvin reaching for some high notes that you wouldn't have though possible and this track alone has made this album as collectable as it is.
