Probably wrong forum and maybe totally wrong, I have passed it on. Taff Watching this at the moment. Spotted Rob Messer in one sequence dancing to two Northern tracks, second of which was Alfie Davison. There were also one or two other faces who looked vaguely familiar from the soul scene. Sure one was Karen Bedford ? - if not she must have a double

Regards - Mark Bicknell. Yeh, saw that, made me smile.... why do they do that .......heard Chairmen of the Board's "Gimme Just A Little More Time" too, what a voice Norman Johnson has, gave me bloomin' goose bumps... enjoyed the movie, Michelle Gomez and Shirley Henderson certainly helping in that respect...must be the Scottish accent . Guest rachel Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Damn... I went to bed early and forgot to watch this  Was told that Mr Welsh himself was at Prestatyn the other year.
Ady Croasdell Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 And the DJ was none other than 6TS member and East End hooligan Bob Morris who's a chum of Irvine. They were going to play If Thats What You Wanted but it didn't happen. I thought the casting was great, really good actors for the parts and enjoyed it all apart from the dancing sequence, he was the only bloke who ddn't fit and couldn't dance; it was like a scene from Sat Night Fever.

Simsy Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Wedding Belles Ch4 now. Alfie Davidson playing, bloke in pub dancing, talc, allsorts ..!
Philly Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 (edited) he was the only bloke who ddn't fit and couldn't dance; it was like a scene from Sat Night Fever. Very true...but what a great film, all shot around the Leith area and in one of "Bigsoulmans'" aka "Lenny Toshak" locals the Bombers club...His lovely wife Jan had the pleasure of attending the premiere, lucky lady...Irvine Walsh doesn't miss a trick, so clued up on people and life, taking it to the extreme in a very funny dark way. Some of the funniest scenes for me were the main character Amanda showing the cleaner in the salon her latest cosmetic surgery procedure....which was how we say "below the belt" oh and also the poor old man on viagra who's b---s were on fire....and of course the preist praising the lord. Guest Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Cracking Irving Welsh comedy drama - with a great Northern section showing some dancing (based in Edinburgh) with Alfie Davison played up loud in the background - somebody on the production team knows their onions - same toon was also played repeatedly throughout the show - sounding awesome...showed the DJ putting the tune on as well - BUT - he actually cued up Darrell Banks on pink Revilot on the deck and I expected to hear that but then Alfie came on - my wife and I were both jumping around the room with glee (Mrs Rez is also a big fan of that tune) Anybody else tune in? Quality bit of telly... MRez
Guest mrs norman maine Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 (edited) Different strokes for different folks eh? I thought it was one of the worst things I've ever seen on TV. I only kept watching as I knew Karen & Gilly were in it. The one bit I found remotely funny was the polite look on Karen's face when that guy with the red shoes was lolloping about. She looked like she was just itching to shove him out of the way and get on the dancefloor. And as for Shirley Henderson.....sorry Derek, we shall have to have words next time we meet I'll never understand how this insufferably twee woman gets any acting work at all. She couldn't even manage to act convincingly when all she had to do was bob her head in time to the music Edited March 30, 2007 by mrs norman maine

Hipcity Hipster Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 I though it was a pretty good drama. What surprised me most was that they used Howlin Wolf's "300 pounds of joy" in one sequence. Bizzarre !! Rob

Guest mrs norman maine Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 The dancer has no rhythm whatsoever. having just looked at the YouTube clip, I've realised that the actor is Michael Fassbender, who turned up at the 100 club about 5 years ago. He danced very similarly then, but wore a silly woolly hat throughout, which made him appear rather charming. Better than those red shoes, anyway. I think he was in "Band of Brothers" too, if it's the same thesp I'm thinking of.

I missed it last week as I was away so tried to watch the repeat last night but fell asleep before the 'dance' sequence....which is saying something as usually I don't go to sleep until at least 2am. From the bit of the YouTube clip I watched, I felt sure he was going to break into some moonwalking......bless!

Yep was chatting to him about 100 club and that he came down with Mark(Marco) who helped doing the cloakroom with Tef. Yep he was, I did ask him what was it about with them shoes!
Guest in town Mikey Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 To be fair to the guy, if he was dancing to Darrell Banks, and the music played over was Alfie Davison, then he would look to be dancing out of time.
