A great bunch of tunes up for grabs, right across the board, includes some great double siders for double bubble!

Happy to send additional images, however PC isn’t picking up my deck at present so can’t record tracks, but guarantee they play as described. PM any questions or to reserve.

Mickey Denton – Now I’m Mr Blue – Amy 902 Promo M- £225

(Mid-tempo shuffler guided by Bobby ‘Duke’ Browner. Condition, condition, condition!)

IMG_E8799.thumb.JPG.281184c350bd02a911431f67a6729ec6.JPG

Gene Townsel – I’m walking away – Balance Town 138 M- £1000

(Outstanding modern come crossover soul. Both sides are great, but its ‘Walking’ that wins it for me. What a twofer, and a very rare original 45)

IMG_E8784.thumb.JPG.5412f04391a2e41b9b4f814e0e85f824.JPG

Chubby & Turnpikes – I didn’t try / I know the inside story– Capitol 5840 M- £275

(Doesn’t matter what side you spin, both are floor pleasers, brilliantly cohesive group harmonies right from off, captivating top-quality tunes. Went on to assume the family name in the form of Tavares of course)

Eyes of Blue – Heart trouble – Deram 85001 Promo M- £75

(Smart little take of the Parliaments version on Golden World. Beautiful copy)

IMG_E8786.thumb.JPG.e51fc44c3c48174e149235e6f07df597.JPG

Tari Stevens – False alarm – Fairmount 1001 DJ Ex+ £175

(Classic girly Northern, not often seen Philly dancer on either label imprint from the Cameo Parkway stable)

IMG_E8779.thumb.JPG.d098ba28f3504ae21944389bfcb02bc7.JPG

Joe Simon – I see your face – Hush 101 Mint £75

(One of the more prolific soul artists on the Northern scene. Emerging from the challenging Louisiana roots to gather all the skills needed to sing, write and produce8. Sprightly little west coast dancer in spotless condition)

IMG_E8783.thumb.JPG.9c38014374950056fac2d8e2e8c6683c.JPG

Jimmy Norman – Family Tree – Mercury 72658 WD M- £150

(Big names always give us big tunes, Johnny Brantley and Otis Blackwell working with Jimmy to serve up this punchy soul burner)

IMG_E8789.thumb.JPG.c8b0a7fa45aebf0dd6f3cb9ba1974bba.JPG

Johnny Nash – I’m so glad you’re my baby – MGM 13805 Promo Ex+ £100

(Classy rich vocals from Johnny on this timeless Northern dancer, finger popping, toe tapping, head nodding, feet shuffling brilliance)

IMG_E8781.thumb.JPG.7180e0e6db5be43e7c774fa9ccf6a714.JPG

Johnny Nash – I’m so glad you’re my baby – MGM 13805 M- dh £75

(Ditto above, but a cool black stocker with rainbow logo)

IMG_E8794.thumb.JPG.0d6bbd4823429239c9a83f6c2d07c7c2.JPG

Strides – I can't get along – M-S 202 WD M- £250

(Punchy, vibrant, catchy Detroit dancer on a lovely clean white demo)

IMG_E8780.thumb.JPG.0a5fe5cb78d422e6f38e03168b892cb6.JPG

Jack Montgomery – My dear beloved / Do you believe it – Scepter 12152 M- £300

(Born ‘Marvin Tyrone Jones’, Jack was given his stage name by Don Mancha, and the influence didn’t stop there, Jacks vocal style and delivery is as Detroit as I’ve heard, so why Scepter for these 2 tracks when they could’ve been the first on Don’s ‘Groove City’ label.  Easy to see the potential in hindsight! Rarer mis-titled release, tiny drill hole on run out at lable edge, DNAP)

Pentagons – Gonna wait for you – Sutter 100 M- £350

(Grabs you right at the intro, upbeat male harmonies launching into a classic 1964 west coast dancer. These guys are probably the most unrecognised group on the scene, choosing to change the group name more often than most artists moved managers and labels, performing as the Chesterfields ‘You walked away’ & the more recent discovery ‘Think it over’, 21st Century on Noel / Dot, Themes on Minit and Soul Patrol on Highland. Boy these were good)

Showmen – Our love will grow / You’re everything – Swan 4219 WD M- £225

(Yet another double sider, that does your brain in picking the best side to play. Both are so good, choosing is like splitting hairs. Lovely copy)

IMG_E8792.thumb.JPG.2ae92d75e4c043e35a86ace35b56d341.JPG IMG_E8793.thumb.JPG.0557b0aca07f8881b5e31dfb4b4a0a0b.JPG

Sam Fletcher – I’d think it over – Tollie 9012 Ex dh £375

(Wow, such a moody intro, you just know he’s got a sulk on. Senses are heightened by the orchestral like deep punchy backing, just about all the big sounds in there. Brilliant vocals, fabulous oldie)

IMG_E8782.thumb.JPG.5600f2046d02108032b699da4b4199af.JPG

Marv Johnson – Come on and stop – United Artists 617 Ex+ £100

(Strong hint of Latin on this pulsating Northern floor filler)

IMG_E8788.thumb.JPG.48b397bb3ac6c8388311bb27d1c61784.JPG

Marva Josie – Don’t – United Artists 888 Ex+ £450

(Ever popular, big-voiced femme dancer, what a voice. So hard to find on a rarer black stock copy in any condition and this is in great shape)

IMG_E8785.thumb.JPG.60065b33d9232c6a1f76cde79b91cb57.JPG

Magicians – Is it all gone – Villa 704 M- £150

(Superb west coast soul group, one of several out of the brilliant ‘Villa’ stable. Lovely copy, condition, condition, condition)
