What a fantastic evolution from Kev Roberts ridiculously titled

World Northern Soul Dance Championships - real name Blackpool Dance Competition.

An individual who is actually convinced by the title.

Oxy and Moron come to mind as she explains that Northern Soul dancing is not about choreography, whilst using choreography to teach.....an Oxymoron indeed.

Before admin say something, this is a product review not a review of the person.

Interested in your thoughts....perhaps the individuals who judge the dubious event, care to comment on her World status?

if you gonna post/reference these videos on here, can you link or embed them from the social media sites rather than post the complete video up

as we may get hit with copyright takedown requests, that is unless you do have permissions to publish them

as such gonna have to take it down shortly

so can you edit and add a link or embed

thanks

Better off buying a few half decent unknown tunes than spending that much cash on a correspondence course.

Unknown tunes in 2025 ? That’s going to be tricky.

Ridiculous!

Clown event crowns her world champion, she believes it and thinks that justifies her charging a hundred and fifty quid for lessons? Preposterous!

Guess that depends on your level of knowledge and how many genres of this wonderful music you’re into. Good  example the other day when a mate of mine played this at the Dalmeny Weekend. Never heard it before and it cost me the princely sum of £4.99 to get a minter. Anyway always going to buy records over dance classes.

B & S gave tunes like this a lot of press, despite the fact it chart topped rnb in the States, but did nothing here.....tons of great fjvers out there that have been totally forgotten and never mentioned....probably all a bit guilty of shortsightedness i suppose.

Wow I'm gobsmacked I love to watch a busy dancefloor with everyone doing their own moves but all in time with the beat and tempo changes etc.  Surely if this is the new thing northern soul line dancing will be the next thing.  😁

I never really took the dance contests seriously since people aren't exactly trying to show off or perform to others on a soul night...? It's largely an expression of your connection to the music and any compliments are just a bonus.

Mick, that already exists anyway. Video evidence from one of the tower sessions was viewed by everyone last year....and the folks taking part said it was just a laugh....ffs, plumb the depths on top of all this dance class garbage.

Julian, well it was 20 + years ago!, Tony's Empress before niter started, load of pensioners having an evening tea dance, cafe with tea urn, sandwiches etc, and soulies putting their holdalls down waiting for pensioners to waltz off down the stairs...

Now we're them🤣🤣

Totally forgotten, or never even known in first place. I played this superb record at the Uckfield soul night three years ago and completely cleared the floor. Not one single person dancing to it.

Can’t argue with the fact there are loads of great cheap soul records.

I bought lots of chart soul in the 70s that probably got bypassed by some wrapped up solely in the Northern scene. Nothing wrong with that you like what you like. I had a discussion with a mate a couple of months ago about such records and would certain records have been played if the the artist wasn't at that time known for a 100% pop record.

The Tymes had Miss Grace which maybe resulted in their later releases being overlooked. I won't post a link  but I've always had a great affection for God's Gonna Punish You by the Tymes, won't be to everyone's taste but I think it's a great vocal and a lovely tune.
