Paul-s Posted yesterday at 10:06 Posted yesterday at 10:06 (edited) https://www.dancelikeachamp.com/pricing-plans What a fantastic evolution from Kev Roberts ridiculously titled World Northern Soul Dance Championships - real name Blackpool Dance Competition. An individual who is actually convinced by the title. Oxy and Moron come to mind as she explains that Northern Soul dancing is not about choreography, whilst using choreography to teach.....an Oxymoron indeed. Before admin say something, this is a product review not a review of the person. Interested in your thoughts....perhaps the individuals who judge the dubious event, care to comment on her World status? Edited yesterday at 11:04 by Paul-s link change 3
Mike Posted yesterday at 10:44 Posted yesterday at 10:44 if you gonna post/reference these videos on here, can you link or embed them from the social media sites rather than post the complete video up as we may get hit with copyright takedown requests, that is unless you do have permissions to publish them as such gonna have to take it down shortly so can you edit and add a link or embed thanks

Keamus Posted yesterday at 12:12 Posted yesterday at 12:12 Better off buying a few half decent unknown tunes than spending that much cash on a correspondence course. 2

Popular Post Keamus Posted yesterday at 13:54 Popular Post Posted yesterday at 13:54 Guess that depends on your level of knowledge and how many genres of this wonderful music you’re into. Good example the other day when a mate of mine played this at the Dalmeny Weekend. Never heard it before and it cost me the princely sum of £4.99 to get a minter. Anyway always going to buy records over dance classes. 3 1
Gilly Posted yesterday at 14:05 Posted yesterday at 14:05 What the hell is that all about ? Would like to see someone teach Mick Francis or Mick LeBrewin how to dance 2

Kathryn Magson Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Jeeez it's not often I'm lost for words........ Flatpack dance lessons? Thanks for that one JimmyTee! 1
Simsy Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Ridiculous! Clown event crowns her world champion, she believes it and thinks that justifies her charging a hundred and fifty quid for lessons? Preposterous! 1
Popular Post Timbo58 Posted 21 hours ago Popular Post Posted 21 hours ago I've met Sally a few times before the 'championship' and she certainly seemed a level headed nice person & I do think that dance classes can be used to encourage the wallflowers new to the scene to get onto the floor. If she's determined to make her web offerings work I'd prompt her to look at her responses given to FAQs as they are confusing and potentially even misleading. It's also best practice to make the annual sub significantly cheaper than 12 x monthly subs. (Just my previous experience in digital marketing with a leading genealogy company.) Seriously though: The 'world championships' are no more than a marketing gimmick for the Blackpool Tower weekender, legally someone 'winning' that competition has no more right to be declared a world champion than anyone winning a similar dance off anywhere else in the world. It isn't adjudicated independently or scrutinised by any professional dance body, it matters not how many take part or believe it to be a real competition, it isn't. The comments about NS being freestyle with lots of 'set moves' is hokum IMHO also - those set moves are merely a result of others copying another dancer they've seen. I've actually seen a instagram video this morning of one of the country's absolute best dancers (not just my opinion either) being ridiculed for not doing 'NS dance style' -it's this very sort of 'dance classes' - pretending there are defined sets of 'moves' that can be classified & categorised -that caused those ignorant comments. Just my twopenneth but NS/Rare soul should be both absolutely freestyle & best done in as dark an event as is possible. High time video makers & social media grifters were positively discouraged from invading our hobby. 5
Chalky Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago What makes her so qualified? She isn't that good herself, just average.

B & S gave tunes like this a lot of press, despite the fact it chart topped rnb in the States, but did nothing here.....tons of great fjvers out there that have been totally forgotten and never mentioned....probably all a bit guilty of shortsightedness i suppose. 2
Greedy Mick Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Wow I'm gobsmacked I love to watch a busy dancefloor with everyone doing their own moves but all in time with the beat and tempo changes etc. Surely if this is the new thing northern soul line dancing will be the next thing.
New Members Tahiil Posted 16 hours ago New Members Posted 16 hours ago I never really took the dance contests seriously since people aren't exactly trying to show off or perform to others on a soul night...? It's largely an expression of your connection to the music and any compliments are just a bonus.

Mick, that already exists anyway. Video evidence from one of the tower sessions was viewed by everyone last year....and the folks taking part said it was just a laugh....ffs, plumb the depths on top of all this dance class garbage.
Monny1916 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Anyone know what her playlist is , I'm sure we all have our own favourites, I was wondering how her's compares to mine, cheers Stephen

Julian, well it was 20 + years ago!, Tony's Empress before niter started, load of pensioners having an evening tea dance, cafe with tea urn, sandwiches etc, and soulies putting their holdalls down waiting for pensioners to waltz off down the stairs... Now we're them 1

Totally forgotten, or never even known in first place. I played this superb record at the Uckfield soul night three years ago and completely cleared the floor. Not one single person dancing to it.
