Insuring Your Collection Of Hot Boxes

Has anyone done this recently? I'm placing my collection on a renter's insurance policy since the company doesn't write policies specifically for collectibles. Is there anything I should check or know before the deal is done? Or any recent forum discussions?

Thanks

Some companies specialise in collectables. Expensive though, but not as expensive as losing those vinyls in a fire or something.

May be a sublimit for an item? Deductible? Accidental damage coverage? Occupancy? Usual stuff to check really.

Thread? Few months back yeah and I did one before that. :wicked: Insured collection? Contents cover & hope for the best.

Reckon getting a camcorder out and providing video evidence of collection is not a bad idea. Proves they're yours and can be verified by an independant source.

Insurance companies want to insure an Elvis collection or sim, but are a bit phased when it comes to a collection of rare individual soul records.

Ben Summers once told me he got paid out 7 grand for a box of LP's.

HE WAS GOING TO BE £24,000 TO INSURE THEM.

Oh boy, talk about an excuse for the wife to get a camcorder for the baby...

I was about 2/3 of the way through cataloging them on my computer until I boxed everything for moving. I'm hoping an inventory list without sound files is good enough.

But I can see it now: "How do we know that's a $500 record when it has a blank label that's been scribbled on and has someone's name in black marker?"

Should add that I'm doing this in the US...
