N/ soul at Buxton opera

My wife told me she had booked tickets for  N soul event at Buxton opera house

Last night  I feared the worst and wasn’t disappointed!  The thing that mystified me

The long queues to buy an absolutely awful version of The Drifter by Daryl Smith . 
Obviously no idea of the classic Ray Pollard or am I out of touch
