Garethx Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Could somebody please post a clip of Johnny Truitt's "Just The Other Day" on Abet. I don't think I've ever heard it and would be interested in hearing the side which accounts for the $400 price differential between double sided demo and issue copies of this particular 45. The track on both sides of the demo copies, "Your Love Is Worth The Pain" is a brilliant deep soul ballad. I assume the rare flip is "Northern". TIA gareth.
Dylan Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 I'd be keen to hear this as well and have never heard it either. I think I still have about 3 copies left of the double sided demo which is fantastic I must add..... Interestingly (or not ?) I have seen about 4 or 5 of the 45 with both sides go through ebay fairly recently.
Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 (edited) ...One of them went into my collection - its a wonderful record, a million miles removed in sound and style from the intensity of the other side and I was well pleased to add it to my stack on 45 after years of loving it on the Kent CD "Uptown Down South"... I don't do soundclips, cos I can't get the hang of Refosoul and can't be bothered to learn how to. If I did you'd be listening to it right now... ...but anyway, I see that someone's done it while I've been writing this! Edited March 28, 2007 by TONY ROUNCE
Platters 81 Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 the "Uptown down South " CD is one of Kents finest.....every home should have one.....

Guest Dodger Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 An absolute stunner of a soul record, wonderful Kent comp as well, one of their best.
Chalky Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 An absolute stunner of a soul record, wonderful Kent comp as well, one of their best. gotta agree with ya Dodger, on both counts
Garethx Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 Thanks for the soundfile. An interesting record: quite similar in style to the Wendell Watts 45s on Ref-O-Ree which Bob Holmes produced, although Truitt is far better vocally than WW.
Guest Richard Bergman Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 CURRENTLY ON EBAY: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=300095897854
