The Mighty Elegant “I Find Myself, Falling In Love With You / I Don’t Know What It Is, But It Sho Is Funky” (Jaber) VG++ £115

Killer sweet soul with a (banging) beat, funk flip, on the proper label. (Very slight dish visible when funk side is playing)

 

 

Franceola “Mighty Good Man” (Maestro) VG++ £250

Slinky midtempo crossover / funky soul, atmospheric & with a lovely vocal. (B side seems to play the same song, and has a very, very slight lift visible)

 

 

   

The Family Circle “Crazy / Oh How Much I Miss Your Baby” (PMRC) VG/VG+ £450

Two incredible rugged sides on this Texas rarity – uptempo funky soul heat, with a gorgeous sweet soul ballad. (Light marks, plays well apart from one second of static at the very start of Crazy)

 

 

   

The Movements “Let’s Get Involved / Cockstrong” (Sounds International) VG+/VG++ £2000

The sweet soul side is incredible here, infinitely better than the other version of the song, to which it bears little relation. Another reason it has long overshadowed is, unsurprisingly, the breakbeat deep funk sledgehammer Cockstrong, which sounds amazing in club. Two top notch sides, and one of the cleanest copies ever to surface. (Looks very clean)

 

 

   

The Master Story Teller “Your Gotta Pay Pay Pay / Independent Lady” (SPQR) VG+ £60

Breakbeat disco funk with much character and banging drums (the second break being particularly sick); midtempo funk flip. (Light label wear)

 

 

   

Nightchill “Hop Skip And Jump / I Want Your Loving” (Tra-Sand) VG++ £425

Uptempo, uplifting modern soul with stunning harmonies, ballad flip. Hard to find these days, especially in such nice shape. (Very clean copy, virtually mint, with faint lift visible when ballad is playing)

 

 

Billy Evans “Prisoner Of My Weakness” (Tee) VG+ £475

Unique uptempo modern / disco stormer, tough on 45. A few copies have slipped through online but this tune has legs. (Slight lift not affecting play)

 

 

Valerie Carter “Trying To Get To You” (Columbia / ARC) VG++ £30

Classy 2-step for the connoisseurs. (Has a faint stress mark, which does not go all the way to the edge on both sides, and does not affect play)

 

 

 

 

Rudy Dardy & Harvest “Searching For Love / Never Was Intended To Be” (Harvest) strong VG to VG+ £450 SOLD

Uplifting modern dancer with step-adjacent ballad flip. (Just a very faint touch of background holds this from being a solid VG+. The ballad is VG and has a slightly off-centre label)
