Or maybe in one of those " Will It Catch On " previously mentioned events , where you could just walk off the dancefloor & pop to the W.C. until the next tune came on . After washing yours hands & putting your headphones & padded gloves on & returning to the dance floor .

Hopefully it goes the same way as "The Drifter" Christmas #1 lol, hopefully soon the message will get through that there is not much money to be made by producing so called Northern Soul records.

Not strictly on thread, but I remember a few years back, Stewart Maconie talking to the American band Algiers about their track “The underside of power”, saying that it had been picked up on the NS circuit. I saw them soon after at Brudenell social club in Leeds and spoke to them before the gig. They were totally ignorant of NS but were interested in talking about it. I often wonder whether Maconie was right about it, but I certainly have never heard any reference to it on the scene since. ( I do love the track)

Well if Nosmo King Can do it, Malcolm can do it…!

Released in the normal way no mention of Northern Soul , then discovered by the Northern Scene , released and then remarketed for the Northern Scene and then the Genie was well and truly out of the bottle .

Which puzzles me , why do these people do this kind of promotional exercise when they must surely know the outcome ?

Point taken. Let me say, I really like this track, Malcolm that is. It is a hell of allot better that some I've heard, but I personally would not buy it, well maybe a MP3.   Lets just say, if you know of the 'Northern Scene', which even water molocules on Mars know about! you gonna love this. It will get played a scooter dos, it will get plyed at main stream parties and maybe mainstream clubs if you have a Dj that is inclined, but as they know, and all of us know, it's not the real deal 6ts, they state that, and thats fine, its a HOMMAGE.

There is room in the world of music for Silky Hargreaves, and Malcolm.  Good luck to him..

Question, what have they based this on? I hear 'Turning my Heartbeat up, obviously, with inflection down at the end of that phrase,  and that backing with the plonking piano, I can't place it, but its a big record...

Du na nu-nu  nu-nu  nu-nu  Nu, repeat  - repeat etc...  can anybody sheet read my jibberish! laughing

When the world and his dog are “manifesting“ everything ( whatever that is )… maybe the folks who released this did just that. (As An NS rendition)

I heard this a few weeks ago, thought it was AI, still not sure it isn't. If it was a real band then surely they'd be in the video rather than a cheaply assembled load of clips that would take about 20 minutes to do.

Well done for having a go I say. Nice arrangement. Something very 1974 about it. Lacks soul. Not a dancer and not a credible record to be played out.

Bit ambiguous, what do you mean?

Looks and sounds like a bandwagon leap on the hot subject of the moment from another outsider attempting to cash in... Other than that, this just sounds like horribly processed AI effort at best and a lazy attempt with preset samples on very basic recording software.

Fair comment. I guess that kinda links to the other AI thinks out there, or soon to be in 2025, the Rikers label stuff...

Hi Malc,

Could you be thinking of the backing to Quick Change Artist, The Soul Twins?

Unfortunately, because they’ve clearly borrowed bits and riffs from elsewhere, it ends up sounding like a contrived bowl of cold Northern Soul soup.
