It's the other way around with the Hesitations in late '66 ( as the B side to "Soul Superman") and the Cavaliers in early '67  with the two on  these surveys  at #47 and #49

I was going off Discogs for Cavaliers which shows it as 66, which must be wrong then. My recollection on Hesitations was in relation to the album release rather than b-side which was a year out. I don't have my Dave Rimmer or Keith Rylatt Detroit books anymore to check there.

However, the link is the Pied Piper team and Joe Hunter specifically I hope I was right in saying. Presumably he took his arrangement written for Hesitations and adapted it for Cavaliers session then? Others here may know the detail.

Hesitations is Nov 66 and this is a comment on 45cat (which I always find more reliable than discogs although there are still errors at times).

Quote

A"-side entered Billboard R & B chart 14 January 1967; reached #42 (2 weeks)

And according to 45cat, Cavaliers is Dec 66

BB Dec 31, 1966
CB Jan 28, 1967

both are Pied Piper and Joe Hunter arranged and conducted the Cavaliers but the session was supervised by Paul Robinson  no details on the Hesitations other than Pied Piper  I’ll get the Lp out when home see if that offers any other info

Whole host of records shared their backing tracks from the Hesitations Soul Superman LP on Kapp.

Most notably A5 That's What Love Is (Co written by Ashford as are most titles on the LP, presumably why Lorraine Chandler did a couple of covers)

A1She Won't Come Back2:19

A2You'll Never Know2:20

A3You Can't By Pass Love2:23

A4I Believe To My Soul2:50

A5That's What Love Is2:39

A6Soul Superman2:25

B1Soul Kind Of Love2:31

B2I'm Not Built That Way2:39

B3I'll Be Right There2:34

B4Wait A Minute2:41

B5Soul Superman No 22:30

B6Clap Your Hands2:28
