Chris Turnbull Posted Saturday at 12:07 Posted Saturday at 12:07 Sad news indeed - what a legacy of great music Off thread slightly but not seen that great ‘Twisted Wheel last night’ film before, wish I’d gone - did go once early 1990 when niters were on again, remember Butch downstairs in that room. Anyone tell me though, I remember going upstairs to a bigger room playing more like ‘Club Soul / Wheel classics’ - was it a two room venue back in the day 1963-71? Always thought just a single cellar bar 1
David Meikle Posted Saturday at 13:21 Posted Saturday at 13:21 This is how I remember it. Prior to 18th September 1965 it was at Brazennose Street. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twisted_Wheel_Club
Popular Post Kathryn Magson Posted Saturday at 15:43 Popular Post Posted Saturday at 15:43 (edited) I was a regular at Whitworth St from 1966-70. I've found a few photos on Facebook from back in the day - first two were taken in the upstairs coffee bar - next two in the room where the DJ's cage was & the last one in the stage room where the bands played. Have to say I've scanned these pics so many times looking for familiar faces! Hope the pics help to refresh your memory Chris! Edited Saturday at 15:44 by Kathryn Magson 5

Roburt Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago As well as the upstairs coffee bar room, there was a 2nd room upstairs. This was beyond the stairs down to the dance areas / stage room. This room was usually almost empty & always cold, but you had to go through it to reach the gents. 1

We all used to call it "The Cold Room" - I remember it well Roburt - too cold & smelly (the gents!) to stay in there for long! I would always have a look in at some point during the night to see if I knew anyone in there, but rarely stayed for long cos of the strong pong! I've never found a photo of the room, although I vaguely recall a few of us sitting in there chatting to Jimmy Cliff one night. Edited 1 hour ago by Kathryn Magson 1
