If you're talking about that Jackin Disco monstrosity, think they've only released it on a 7".  Also, don't really understand who this series is aimed at and they all look a bit booty to me as well as being poor re-edits.

Have the 12" on Beverley Glenn and it's just a 5:30 longer some (extended) version / mix than the regular 7".

Sounding 'bigger' and 'deeper' than the 7". Still nothing dramatically different to change the tune.

If there's some other re-mix I wouldn't be surprise as the opening keyboard and horn hook refrain is so catchy.

Yes, somebody ruined it with a nasty remix - I don't know whether it was a legitimate release or not. I wouldn't have given permission to create such a monstrosity of such a lovely record.

Damaris also did a good version of it.

The Shapeshifters sampled it to terrible effect about 20 years ago and got to no.1.

Dave & Maurissa version has just come out

Yes Dave. The awful Shapeshifters was the one I couldn’t think of, seem to remember it was on a TV ad around that time and the original became just about the most requested record when playing out which made me sick of a record I loved for a long time, but I’ve got over it now lol

I’ve got the original USA 7” stock copy which is 5:42 long according to the label.  The 7” promo issue is a shorter 4:18 version + have the LP as well which is timed at 5:50. No idea if the promo version is a different mix or just a shorter edit. Not heard the 12” so no idea if that’s a different mix though it looks like it may just be the same version as the LP possibly? Both the 12” versions from 81 + 82 are both shown as 5:52 timings on Discogs. Gonna spin a few later so will dig out the LP + 7” and compare…
 

As already mentioned the more recent Jackin’ Disco 4 is just the radio edit of Shapeshifters “Lola’s Theme” backed with what looks like the 4:18 JT promo version of “What About My Love”. Got both the Damaris and Dave + Maurissa cover version releases as well but still can’t beat the original for me.

So played both the 7” stock copy 5:42 version back to back with the album 5:50 version… cued up both and started together fading in and out as they played along side each other. Have to say they just sounded the same to me. Happily stand corrected if wrong but just seemed like the LP version had an additional 8 seconds as the single faded the outro out sooner.
