...why naive?... I ordered a few long(ish ) time wants... not super rare, but  I knew they were on Johns site and Discogs, but I've not got deep pockets so beyond what I was willing to pay...50% off sorted that... records arrived (ok not instantly, but Ive been hunting a copy for a long time...so what's an extra couple of weeks, he also called to say sorry for the delay)  and in the condition stated...I'm happy...

my order came this morning... only 4 out of 7 records that i ordered overall but graded ok and i`m happy with them and the prices were right enough for me

I only ordered one 45, on 6 Jan. I rang them yesterday to check on progress and the lady printed my order sheet there and then and handed it to John to find the 45.

After the time lapse I fully expected it to be out of stock but the record arrived this morning in perfect condition. If your still waiting ringing may be way forward.

I think everyone at Johnny's - including himself, have done a sterling job on what must have been/still is a monumental task. I don't collect anymore but when I did I always found John and his set up to be first class. I've heard nothing yet to change my mind. Delays were always going to happen and could have reasonably been expected.

A monumental task undertaken and in hindsight John himself would probably say it was a exercise that outstripped expectation and put him and his team under pressure but most on here seems happy, most complaints seem now over missing records but that is the chance taken with sales like these, he isn't Amazon.

I would guess a lot of the records would be maybe several copies at best and hard to please everyone when those copies are gone 

Money refunded no loss really just a bit of disappointment.

Are you saying 50% of all orders in the sale have gone unsold?  Not sure how you come to that conclusion tbh?

So made 2 orders on January 5th. Waited patiently for 31 days as understood the situation. Then rang Stella as felt a full calendar month was long enough and she said I would receive the items this week… 2 days later both orders duly arrived. 
 

Just one item was out of stock and refunded and not bothered as own the original 12” anyway. Only ordered the 7” as it was around half book price and wasn’t going to have to pay extra postage on it. Having a vinyl night tonight so will give them all a spin along with a couple of other new arrivals and see if they meet grading criteria but a visual inspection suggests they should do. So long as they play ok I’m more than happy as had some real bargains well below normal market rate.

I would of thought he’s moved a lot of records that would have been there for ages

I would imagine that was his  intention, he gets rid of dead stock and the buyers are happy will half price records or some are

To be honest Peter , lots of record dealers both on here and Ebay have reduced their prices not all 50% , but maybe 20 to 25% ,  so although I didn't order anything from John , I know I've saved a few pounds and am more than happy , there has definitely been a downturn in prices this month .

Had an email this morning from a well known seller , that has slashed some of his sales ( albeit new releases from the last couple of years ) to as little as £3.

The market has been over inflated for a long time in many cases.  Dealers have a choice ro sell at a price they will sell for or have them sat on a shelf.

No, I said that lots of people are reporting receiving approx half of what they ordered, so it seems to be happening routinely

agree chalks.. if a record is for sale and in my case have to sell then reduce them a little till they do sell.. no point having them sitting pretty for ages.. i think a great idea from JM and thought it was long overdue if I`m honest

Given the stock John says he holds I doubt the sale has even made a dent.  Great way to shift stock and create some interest.

No reason at all but you said it was not a sale at all, even though most people took it as one. Maybe if you shopped around for the records at those normal prices you may have had them at your door quicker.

I started thread and cannot believe the response . I,m sure John will take any criticism on the chin and carry on what he does provide quality sounds , it up to the buyer to decide whether it is good deal or not .

I'm not sure why some people seem to be taking customer reviews directed at JM personally? If you're happy with your transactions in the sale, by all means wax lyrical, fairs fair. But if other people aren't as happy, for whatever reasons, I'm sure they are entitled to their opinions based on their experiences, and I'm sure JM's business will survive!

That's right, it wasn't a half-price sale when the prices before the sale were double the usual prices.

I ordered a whole bunch of records that I would have had to search for elsewhere for a long time. For me, my order was essentially about being able to cross a lot of records off my wish list in one purchase at a more or less standard price.

I spent a few thousand quid with him and still haven't heard from him after a month or so, so you're actually right and I probably should have bought them elsewhere. At the moment I feel like I've given him a loan.

Most people on here seem pleased with the prices and the main gripe has been the time taken to fulfil the orders or records not been available due to been sold to other customers. John and his team have been working flat out fulfilling the orders so in my opinion that indicates that people were trying to grap bargains while they could.

Obviously your opinion on the sale differs.

How would you sound if you spent a few thousand GBP with someone who didn't consider it necessary to respond to your order and messages even after more than a month?
I have been very patient for weeks and I am still patient but I am reading more and more often from other soul source members that they have already received their records even though they ordered much later than me.

Pleased about a half price sale because they are now sold at the correct price, that does not make sense to me and then spend thousands of pounds at the said sale

Peter how can you say that when you didn't even buy anything. I did and received my order within 2 days but if I'd splashed out a lot of money and was still waiting for an update I'd be bloody annoyed about it.

I have no idea what is supposed to be difficult to understand. I was able to buy a whole lot of records in one order for the usual price.
If I had bought the records individually from different sellers, I would have paid more just because of the shipping costs and I would have had more work with the orders. Apart from that, I ordered records that are not easy to find in the condition I ordered them in.

You implicating this was not a sale at all, but that is your opinion and you bought the records with that in mind, and I agree that I think you should have received your records or a acknowledgement of your message. I do appreciate that in an earlier post you said English is not your first language so a phone call is not really something you can do.

It may be better if you now take these issues directly to the seller, rather than continue to post them up here which so far hasn't resolved anything

Maybe I have a different idea of what a sale is than you do. To me, a sale means that you can buy something for less than the usual price, but most of his prices are double the usual market prices, so the half-price sale is now the usual market price.

I did this 4 days ago and still have not received a reply. My patience is wearing thin after reading time and time again from other Soul Source members that they have already received their orders even though they ordered later.

I spoke to Stella today at JMs regarding a few of my outstanding orders I quoted the ref numbers and soon arrived at a reasonable explanation . I had sent an email and a message on their website and had not heard back so thought best to phone . She said they were trying to wade  through all correspondence inbetween packing orders . But had about  6000 messages .. I feel for the guy who has spent x amount of thousands and doesnt speak the lingo .. personally tho considering the amount  of work involved I'm happy to wait as sure it will be resolved for one and all soon .
