Popular Post Manfromsoul Posted Saturday at 14:23 Popular Post Posted Saturday at 14:23 Reading all the comment about I can understand the frustration regarding having funds tied up due to delays in receiving the items. This is what I know 1st hand from what I have personally witnessed. The impact of the 50% sale far outreached any expectation, with orders coming from the whole of the UK, Europe, Asia and America(s). Orders that would normally be taken in one week, now being taken daily. But not only an increase in orders taken but additionally each order multiplied tenfold due to the massive discount that has been applied. (Let me just give a brief example - 150 orders containing 2 items per week, became 150 orders containing 20 orders per day... This is just an example) A few orders placed have been for up to 200 items. I spoke to JM and suggested due to the exceptional demand that he closes the sale down, but as he pointed out to me 'being a man of his word' it is not something he is prepared to do. Extra staff have been drafted in by JM to deal with the demand on site. Additionally staff have been recruited by JM that work remotely with boxes of vinyl updating the Discogs inventory. I totally understand the comments regarding business infrastructures dealing with clients/orders and daily operations, but this exceptional reaction has his whole team off guard. Someone that has operated for over 50 years, building a global client base, paying VAT and Taxes, JM has too much to lose by defaulting on this. There will be orders that will not be fully completed, but replacements or refunds will be made. From my own experience of buying records from various sellers over the years, even placing orders for 3 or 4 items I have been refunded due to unavailability etc. I know that the whole team, and the additional staff drafted in are working on completing all the orders with the exceptional demand that has been put on them. There is a limit however to how many more people can be drafted in due to the sheer volume of vinyl/styrene on site 4 million is not an exaggeration. I know that most people that have ordered will be patient, most people have dealt with JM long enough to realise circumstances have been impacted. The offer of 50% is incredible and also brave but you may have to wait a couple of weeks for them and that benefit! I know any business, record dealers/suppliers would have the same problem with these volumes. I would suggest if you cannot wait, it is probably best that you do not place any orders right now. Tricky Posted Saturday at 15:58 Posted Saturday at 15:58 First order 20 records. 18 turned up Not all of those came as ordered so will be going back for refund.Second order 12 records. We will see how many arrive and how accurate they are.Everything I ordered bar one was some form of M- . If I’d known on 27th Dec I was putting out £4,500 on a long term loan I might have thought twice. Luckily for me the first order was majority cost wise so have the money for my new boiler. Not having the items. Not sending the right items. Not keeping control of his stock wherever it is is obviously my fault.I am a bad customer!!! I just should be grateful that I had the opportunity to buy from his half price sale which made most items affordable and buy items I didn’t get from his gazillions of records in storage. Im off to lay prone at the altar of Johnny MANSHIP.

Actually you knew you full well you were spending the money outright on records , not lending anyone anything.

Bearing in mind they are nearly all mint so all good.I haven’t bought off of John for years because his prices are so off.On Discogs often there are other copies from the UK cheaper and he is always a lot higher. The one I’m most happy with is a mint Louis Curry on Reel. I’ve paid £225. Only 8 sold on Discogs since 2017 and 6 were for £350 or more. You seemed happy about your acquisitions here.

True I concede I was wrong to say that but am frustrated. 8 minutes ago, Shinehead said: You seemed happy about your acquisitions here. True. It was a discussion on the merits of sale on 4th before everyone went back to work and it all went Pete Tong. I feel that the onus on us buyers is to just suck it up and feel grateful. Not me I’m afraid. 1

At this moment I do not see any alternative, other than cancelling the order, I get everyone's frustration but John is not a fly by night and with patience and a bit more tolerance all will end well probably with not as many records as expected but fully refunded for the missing ones.

The website had a code for the half off, it isn't Manship's fault that discogs doesn't offer a similar system at check out, though this isn't the main cause for the griping here in any case

Candiman Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago As already said postage cost is high. I have hardly ever bought from JM so don't know if this is normal. I initially had 9 items in the basket (half price value just under £100, I don't buy big ticket items!) and postage was set at £15.95 or £16.95 with £100 insurance. I reduced to 8 items and postage reduced by £1, reduced to 7 items and postage reduced by a further £2 to £12.95. There is clearly an algorithm behind it based on number of items but it isn't any sort of accurate reflection of value and weight, and it is quite possibly also based on out of date postage prices. You can buy 1st class tracked with signature and £150 insurance for £5.65 (on line price small parcel up to 2kg). Add, say £1 for packing material (cardboard is expensive nowadays but as a business he will be buying in bulk so maybe less than that), so postage is being marked up approx. 100% to cover labour packing cost and transport to sorting office (although RM can collect nowadays), or is it an algorithm that just keeps on giving (from JM's perspective)? Still, at half price the prices are acceptable. Will just have to be patient for delivery as he obviously has his hands full. 1
Roburt Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago To be fair to John ... my 45's from him took a while to arrive ... BUT I also ordered a few things from a Discogs dealer in Canada a few days later. It took him almost 7 days to even acknowledge my order ... guess we shouldn't expect too speedy a service over the Xmas / New Year period.

John has said the postage is a discogs thing and he will adjust the postage as they come to the order to suit the order.

Candiman Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Although my order was made thru his website. Also I haven't had an email order confirmation, I would have thought that would have been automatic. Edited 5 hours ago by Candiman
Roburt Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago UPDATE ... https://www.facebook.com/share/r/15vgRsz1bK/ 1
Candiman Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Fair play to John for putting these updates out. So which "stock list" is the most accurate do you think - his website or Discogs? I found a few things on Discogs that weren't on his website so I assumed he was updating his website first.
