Kev that's not quite correct, I bought a record off Discogs that wasn't on his own site. I wanted to check the quality of the record on his player but it wasn't there.

Unfortunately not the case, plenty of things listed on the website are not available.

Well said mate why did he start the sale when there's not going to be anyone there to sort things out.

Probably because he wasn't expecting to be swamped by quite so many whingeing vultures ...

Personally speaking, this wasn't money I had lying around, I had to sell a bunch of stuff and borrow a bit to fund the purchases. 3 weeks and counting holding the money without any kind of response to messages, other than gradual cancellation of orders for items not being in stock, is shoddy regardless of the circumstances, which surely weren't that difficult to predict.

This sale has captured a lot of eye balls 👀

I ordered on 11 Jan on Discogs (3x 45s not available on his website). One unavailable so refunded. Says shipped so should arrive soon🤞

Weirdly, the unavailable 45 then got relisted.. presumably just an error..

Again, 11th Jan is 2 weeks after the date from which others are still waiting to hear.

Placed my order on boxing day, has been marked as completed today 👍

My order received today in full.

I wasn't expecting them to be actioned on until 6th January, so not too bad imo.

I think starting the sale on boxing day was maybe unwise what with people's expectations in this day and age of 'instant delivery'.

Might have been an idea to state that orders wouldn't be processed until w/c 6th January?

If you want it next day pay for next day delivery.

Paying for next day delivery doesn’t ensure that it gets sent the next day or the next or the one after that.

It still requires someone to post it doesn’t it. And pick it up for that matter.

I'm sure Johnny and his staff are working as hard as they can to get orders out as quickly as possible. He is, and always has been, a first rate seller, and always a pleasure to deal with.

Might have been sensible to give people who have ordered an idea of where they are at date wise with it but at least he’s said something.

managing your inventory is a basic element of retail, besides which many people are reporting unavailable items listed as in stock on the website.

Seems not. I ordered early when the sale started (early in the day on 26th Dec) & ordered direct off JM's web site.

Got an e-mail from Paypal today stating a refund from JM is on it's way to my Paypal account. No notification from John's team as to what I will not now be receiving or when my order will be dispatched (but at least it must be being processed at the moment). I do recall the postage charged for my order was quite high even though it was to be sent by 1st class mail.

Postage is high.

I’ve got two orders outstanding with £15.95 for three 7’ records and £12.95 for one 7’ being charged for p&p.

Value of both orders is about the same.

Now I’m aware that this covers special delivery and insurance, but still fair bit higher than I’m used to paying.

It goes without saying that neither website order has progressed beyond ‘processing’ stage on his web site with first being made on 28/12 and second on 06/01.

My advice would be to put half price sale on hold now and not wait until end of the month. That way last 3 weeks orders can be cleared without the distraction of loads more orders coming through in next two weeks.

I was recently shocked to find a properly packaged single 7” costs £5.20 to send 1st class recorded. It’s gone up 2 quid as many years.

My tardy parcel has 7 tunes with a value of 500 ish quid and cost almost 20 quid for an SD. I wasn’t as shocked after that but didn’t check to see if it’s an outrage.

Anyhoo, I may get it all back as yet. Section 75 is a beautiful thing.

20 quid would be more than double the actual regular cost for special delivery on that package, not taking into consideration the lower rates for royal mail business accounts.

ye standard special delivery covers £500 easily. i usually charge the £20 option if value over £1000 but think max it cover is £2500

I can’t imagine the claims process being much fun.  Luckily I never to to do it.  Worst I had was a parcel to Japan got lost so I issued a refund.  3 months later the records ended up back with me.

Ye that’s another issue.. claiming is stressful and can be in the main unsuccessful

If this of any use to anyone?

I recently sent 6 x 45's and used the Royal Mail 48 Tracked option.
It cost me £2.80 - which seemed half decent.
No idea tho on compensation for loss or damage.
The print out said "item value £150" but I was not asked about it.
I suppose I took a chance - but you get full tracking on where it is AND a picture when delivered.

I did not ask for a signature as picture is fine.  Prob more money for that - but it was an option.

It also got delivered within 48 hours.

My package from John arrived today. 2 x 45's missing that had been showing as IN STOCK on his web site when I ordered ... BUT maybe someone else went for them at almost the same time as I did.

Oh… I wonder what the justification is for that then?
