Has a minor edge chip that goes nowhere near the run-in grooves. Visual grade: Strong VG, minor edge chip €1500 Danny Maddie – I'll cry no more / I love you, yes I do – Jin 45-601 Pretty recent Louisiana discovery that has been firing up Northern and R&B dance floors. The stock has evaporated quite fast for obvious reasons and this is my last copy. Known to be a bubbly pressing but plays without issues. Visual grade: EX €700 The Nassauvians – Communication / Don't let me down – Flamingo 9237 Coveted psych garage 45 from the Bahamian band. The flipside is a pretty cool take on the Beatles tune. Visual grade: Strong VG+, minor warp NAP €600 Samuella Williams – I'm tired of stealing your love / Ah-JunKie man – Top's 0001 Monster femme ballad from Alabama with a funk flip. Warp causes some needle wobble but plays through without any issues at 2g tonearm weight. Visual grade: M- €300 James Knight and The Butlers – Baby please pretty please / Space guitar – Cat 249 Miami crossover sound with the Reid / Clarke quality stamp all over it. Plays excellent. Visual grade: VG, moderate warp NAP €250 The Stridells – The power to dream / Stick-em up kind of lovin' – Morgan 369 Private late 60s harmony ballad. Looks pretty much unplayed but this is a styrene only press, which is audible during the harmony parts. I've heard the same issue on another clean copy so may be inherent to the pressing. Beautiful tune though! Visual grade: EX €200 Birmingham Traveleers – Call me, answer / I'm saved – No label Private gospel funk killer that has recently been reissued on Cultures of Soul. Visual grade: VG+ €200 Just Us – Even Ceasar cried mamma / Land of illusion and weird / I can fly – Bouusiphone 1092 Sick Scottish garage psych that was released on the Moroccan Boussiphone label. This label usually focused on local folklore sounds, so how this ended up on there remains a total mystery. The sleeve is total baller obviously. Visual grade: EX €150 Earl Connelly King – Don't take it so hard / How can I let you go – Everest 19430 Big room popcorn R&B. Promo only and a bugger to track down. Visual grade: VG €125 Sammy Jones – Nothing can change this love / Tennessee waltz – Hull 1203 Gritty and deep ballad. Last release on this New York imprint that's more known for its doo-wop and group soul releases. Bargain! Visual grade: VG+ €125 Skull Snaps – Didn't I do it to you (mono/stereo) – GSF 6896 DJ Copy Second single taken from the legendary album. Short edge warp produces a swoosh during run-in but evaporates just as the music kicks in. Visual grade: VG+, short edge warp €120 Ben Atkins & The Nomads – I'll step aside / It would take a miracle – Statue 7001 Rather excellent deep soul / popcorn by one of the most underrated voices to ever grace the Muscle Shoals studios. Visual grade: EX, minor warp NAP. B-side has a sticker on label. €80 Ray Pollard -Wanderlust / This is no laughing matter – Decca 32189 DJ Copy Mid-tempo northern dancer. Not as well known as The Drifter but definitely worth checking out. Visual grade: Strong VG+ €80 Greylan Williams and The Hustlers – My girl / A tribute to a king – Soul Revue 80617 Raw and honest private version that sits at the exact opposite of the musical spectrum from the Motown sound on the original. The origins of this one are unknown but has a vague island feel to me. Visual grade: VG, moderate warp NAP €75 Chris Kenner – Stretch my hand to you / Shoo rah – Instant 11-2124 Eddie Bo arranged New Orleans soul and a true hidden gem on the label. Visual grade: VG to VG+, moderate warp NAP €75 Ken Ealy – Am I just a fool / Sweet is the wine – Judnell 1972 Semi-known Texas crossover.
