Guest Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 WHAT A TUNE...FAIR DO'S A Real Stormer This One Is Indeed! One Of Two Songs From A Film. The Other Is Called "Storm" That's Not Quite As Dancable But Brilliant None-The-Less.
TheBigO Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 (edited) Prentend I'm Loving You has been a huge spin a the Plinston and the Dome (on acetate) since it was released on a CD for the film, Eves Bayou(?). Great toon, belting. Edited March 28, 2007 by TheBigO
Guest Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Prentend I'm Loving You has been a huge spin a the Plinston and the Dome (on acetate) since it was released on a CD for the film, Eves Bayou(?). Great toon, belting. I guess the question could then be asked "Where Did That Acetate Being Spun At Plinston And The Dome Come From Exactly?" because the song was virtually unheard of before it's inclusion on the "Eves Bayou" soundtrack. And Yes! It's The Man Doing What He Does Best.
Philt Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Mate PC speakers on the blink, any way of me hearing this? Really interested if it ain't already gone. Phil

Though i'm told it was actually Jimmy Radcliffe. The same as the one posted above. Tomo

The same as the one posted above. Tomo Not Really Sure Why Anybody thought This Was Chubby, the Song Wasn't Even Meant For Mr. Checker But Rather A Vague Attempt At Doing Bacharch-David By Kooper-Brass-Levine. Jimmy Also Did Their "Big City Blues" (Above), "This Diamond Ring" and "Where There's Smoke There's Fire". Of The Latter Song Al Kooper Would Go On To Cut It With The Blues Project Outfit A Few Years Later... And This Diamond Ring, Originally Intended For The Drifters Would Eventually Get Other Coverage, A Blessing To His Bank Account, Even If Much To Al's Chagrin. Edited April 1, 2007 by Mangomn2003

The Studio Take (4) Vocal Wasn't Done Completely Seriously, But Alas It's The Only Surviving Version Of The Attempt At Making A Full Blown Top Flight Record. We're Only Left With The Dreams Of What Might Have Been. Cheers!
Guest Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 (edited) I Think I Might Have Gotten The Dates Wrong On The Artist Who Have Covered "Deep In The Heart Of Harlem"... Both Johnny Nash (Jimmy's One Time Roomate) on Groove #56-0021 and Clyde McPhatter On Mercury #72220 Both Released Versions In Late 1963. Walter Jackson's Okeh #7285 Didn't Come Til 1967. Johnny Nash's 1960 LP "Studio Time" Featured The First published Jimmy Radcliffe Song Called "How Do I Say I Love You". The Back Cover Credits The Song As Having Been "Written By A Friend Of Johnny's For The Album". For A Brief Period Of Time (March 29th 1965 Until April 13th 1965), Between His Aurora Release Of "My Ship Is Coming In" and Shout's "Lucky Old Sun", Jimmy Was Signed To Johnny And Danny Sims JODA Enterprises/JAD Label With The Intention Of Doing Some Serious Calypso Flavored Soul But Jimmy's Jingle Work, Songwriting And Producing Jobs Took Him Other Places.
