Does anybody have scans of this or a copy they can upload images of?

I've found a few photos online of the articles but would love to have a look at what else was in it.

 

I have three issues, 1, 2 and 4.  I will scan them when I can find the time, might be over Christmas though.

I need a copy of issue 2 if anyone can help?

When I started my Northern Soul journey Mick, I knew in my hearts of hearts that some of the stuff being played had nothing to do with soul. But; I was told that they were very big records and that I knew nowt. I had discovered the sweet soul sound of Philly on my own, things like the Stylistics. So, then to be confronted by such monstrosities as Tim Tam, James Coit, and many others, etc, I was a little disenchanted. But I persevered, and I'm still here. My teething time was around 1975. I hope I've explained myself well enough for people to understand.

Thanks for posting those. They brought back some great and some not so great memories. Maybe I'm biased but a bit harsh on Edwin at the Ritz. 

Thanks for the issues Chalky. Brought back good memories of those early days. Love those stories Frank told about Soussan. My old mate Johnny Phillips was over from oz in the summer and he had some great stories regarding dealing with Soussan.  Don,t know what happened to the digging book Andy Dyson was looking at bringing out, but these stories really need putting down on paper before were all gone, and Bristol Soul Club re writes the history, because nothing happened before Bristol started.

PS in issue 4 Cleethorpes review, anyone know what the Betty Turner was that Poke was playing upstairs in the disco / funk room? (Says 'yes, Betty Turner is a monster!!')

We've had quite a few over the years including quite a few old Black Echoes. I had a few Black Echoes which I gave to Chalky, and he did all the work in scanning and uploading them, along with many others. Chalky spends a fair bit of time sharing stuff like this, along with lots of old cassette tapes which he digitalises and then uploads on different social media platforms. He always does it without any fuss and all for the love of the scene.

Between us we’ve done a few mags over the years. I did Midnight Express not so long ago. Shades of Soul and a few others on here somewhere. 

Some great memories for me in those three editions Chalky. Guy's assessment of The Showstoppers was spot on. I remember watching them from the balcony near M's. It was also the first time I bought a record in the record bar. Tightrope on a Dynamo Demo off Soul Sam I was all excited about getting that at the time. The oldies/newies thing referred to really frustrated me back then. As there was still lots of oldies I'd never heard so as a newbie it was a real learning curve. Within a year or so I'd definitely made my bed in the 60's newies camp and it's still there.

I have a copy of Rod Dearlove’s detroits collectors guide that might be of interest to some people who may have not seen that before, definitely worthy of a digital version

Thanks for these Chalky, I never bought them at the time so plenty of fascinating reading lying ahead. Skimming through the first issue I really like the overall attitude that comes across, and in impressive choice of artwork to grace the first edition too!

More than offset with lots of great records played at that time as well.  

The late 70's yellow Grapevine label is the true Casino Classics label! Not that record label travesty of Winstanley's.

Tomangoes, Al Williams, Larry Clinton, Billy Hambric, Lester Tipton, Betty Boo, Dena Barnes, The Agents, Sam Williams, Jimmy Burns, Delights, Morris Chestnut, Duke Browner and many more, all very popular at the Casino!

 Just about all the yellow Grapevine releases were based on records that were big at Wigan at that time💫.

Sorry I was being facetious, I have loads on Grapevine,  And along side  the Grapevine singles I have the 3 albums which have great records on them...

was just taking the Michael out of wigan ovation ...
