Becket Posted November 13 Posted November 13 32 minutes ago, Chalky said: Good price for Jimmy Church. Totally agree - a great price imho. Didn't Tim Brown have one up for auction recently and the starting price was £1500 ? Personally love this tune, but never hear it played out. Why? It is a great punchy dancer. John Weston has spun it in the past for me.

JC was massive for Andy Dyson at Lifeline, whilst not unknown it was rarely played anywhere before then
Mal C Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Time to start back collecting new new releases, or back to house records, I honestly wonder why folks keep shelling out so much for these 45s, it’s obscene really isn’t it. that said I’m wondering how long these people are gonna hold out, if you buy at the top, no matter what it is, records, playing cards with nude women on them, stamps…you’re gonna loose money… simple economics… 3
Dylan Posted November 13 Posted November 13 I find the descriptions a hard read. Only check in here to see the prices and opinions. 1
Soul Shrews Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Sales pitch. And why not he is after all a salesman. But with a Soul music fan passion. Cheers Paul
Pete Eccles Posted November 13 Posted November 13 No mention from JM about the Tangeers being rarer on issue, I'm sure he would have used that if true. I've seen enough to suggest there's nothing in it, but last time I said this in a sales group all hell broke loose.

Cheers Paul Yes I appreciate his wealth of knowledge and time on the scene. I just don’t warm to things being hyped. It doesn’t encourage me to want to buy. It obviously works though.
Soulagogo Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Tangeers issue is definitely more rarer than demo but that said same tune and certainly not 50% more value than demo , but what do we know cheque book collectors again
Tobytyke Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Valadiers very cheap been going for at least twice the price it achieved tonight.......but it's a terrible record! Just for Motown completists.
Benji Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Terrible? Valadiers is a great example of the early Motown sound. I love it. 2

Even weirder that it is going cheaper on John’s auctions. Really odd one price wise. Doesn’t get enough love imho as it is a fantastic stormer and the playout on it is brilliant. Love it. Maybe it is just an out of vogue type of sound these days? 2
