Sounds more like a very Lo-Fi mastering likely trying to hide recording flaws (muffled). Or a DIY recording session. Link to comment Social source share

I loived it from my first listen. It must be somewhat rare, As I never found it. But, I'm sure it got played on the local, Detroit stations, and had some sales there. Nicola
I have a copy, it was a birthday gift from Gilly via Andy Dyson from Andy's own collection. We heard it via Kev Cane. As far as I am aware it is a Detriot 45. 2 Link to comment Social source share
Robbk
On 21/10/2024 at 11:49, Chess1458 said: I believe it is a Detroit 45 if I'm not mistaken It was pressed on a small, local label at Archer Record Pressing in Detroit. They pressed mostly southeastern Michigan labels, and local national labels like Motown, when their normal pressing plants were backed up with jobs, and they wanted to get a new record out locally right away, or refresh stock in local record shops who were clamouring for it. They didn't do many (IF ANY) jobs for out-of-region-or state labels. So, that alone leads one to believe (and bet) that THIS "Fresh Records" was a Detroit Metro Area label. I have a couple end of '50s-early '60s 45s on a Fresh Records located in L.A. But they don't seem to have any relationship to each other. All the credited names on the label,.... the songwriter, A. Wilson, the producer & arranger (L. Cooper and E. Daniel), look familiar, and remind me of mid '60s Detroit tiny labels. I'm sure I have 3-4 mid '60s Detroit records with credits for those people. Tricky Posted Thursday at 19:11 Share Posted Thursday at 19:11 It’s that bad/ low fi recording it could have been on Fortune/ Hi Q. I really don’t dislike it, I’ve had several copies but just can’t seem to keep one. Link to comment Social source share
Still Diggin Posted Thursday at 19:29 Share Posted Thursday at 19:29 A good captivating soul record is often it's simplicity. often wondered if it was Al 'alonzo' Wilson as it does sound like him. But that was from down south. 1 Link to comment Social source share
