interesting move from ebay Uk

msm quote/link

'Online retailer eBay has scrapped fees for private sellers across almost all of its categories as it attempts to keep fast-growing rivals such as Depop and Vinted at arm’s length.

The move means eBay’s UK sellers no longer have to pay transaction fees, except for cars, motorcycles and other vehicles.'

'On Tuesday, eBay said its move, which has taken effect immediately, meant private sellers would no longer pay so-called final value fees or regulatory operating fees when they sold on the site.'

sounds ok but remember the £1000 limit ON SALES, other than selling a collection, then you are allowed £6000 a year..over £1000 ebay tels the tax man

only problem is thats £6000  is the cost of a nice tune..

300 items is correct thats no problem at all....

Are you sure they hold on to the money unless requested? Because I was paid today (yes I got the full amount, no fees) as usual and the money is going straight to my account?

So how is ebay going to make up the money lost through this move?

I guess as now the onus is on the seller to physically request a withdrawal from eBay’s holding / ‘balance’ account  rather than a scheduled payout, eBay will rack up passive interest by having funds sitting with them. As an aside, free listings and no fees only apply to private sellers.

How eBay balance affects your payouts

Scheduled payouts are being removed for private sellers from 16 October 2024 as part of the launch of eBay balance. This means that if you’re a private seller, you won’t receive your payouts on a daily, weekly, fortnightly, or monthly schedule as the funds will be stored in your account as part of your balance.

Your available funds will be sent to your eBay balance, typically in 1 day, where you can use them to pay for items, postage, and other selling costs on eBay.co.uk.

Private sellers can still request payouts directly to a linked bank account the funds are available by selecting Withdraw in the Payments tab.

If you’re a business seller on eBay, nothing will change and....
