Roburt Posted September 8 Posted September 8 ZOOT MONEY ... RIP ... A mainstay on the early UK R&B scene. I saw him live for the 1st time @ the end of 1966 @ the Boulevard, Tadcaster. He put on a good show as always; including his party piece (stripping down to spotted underwear & jumping on his organ). 2
Kathryn Magson Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Sad news - saw him at The Wheel back in the 1960s
Bo Diddley Posted September 8 Posted September 8 He also appeared in in the film version of Porridge!
Hooker1951 Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Another piece of British RnB n soul tragically gone he was always simmering just below the big time in he 1960,s soul scene 1
Mal C Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Real shame, Always thought their version of Jimmy Smith, had the edge... proper Mod record... RIP Zoot Money
Britishbarry Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Sad news. I saw him quite a few times back in the 60s. He was always very entertaining.

Roburt Posted December 8 Author Posted December 8 (edited) I opened this thread by referring to the time I'd gone to see Zoot perform @ the Boulevard in Tadcaster at the end of 1966 (Friday 30th December). He was still in Yorkshire the next night, but this time he was on @ the niter at the Mojo ... of course that Saturday session ran through to the Sunday which was New Years Day ... unfortunately for us (Tom Sleight & myself), the Spellbinders weren't on at the Boulevard with Zoot (neither were the Foretops).
