Hi all was searching for this Wigan classic on discogs and find all of the caneil releases deemed unofficial, what was the genuine label for this? Many thanks in advance, geese. I know I'll get some stick but always loved this Wigan tune.

I've searched a bit and can't find out a great deal about this record, which really surprises me, considering how it it apparently was at the Casino. Doesn't seem any other releases on the label, and apart from it's connection to the Tof record label very little detail at all.

the originals are styrene a X easy to see  but as times go on they seem to be rarer than we thought,it got booted on a look a like and a few more but discogs is not the be all and end ,I have only had 2 copies  over   55+ years funny was not a masive spin around 75  didnt hear it a lot, played around the time of Anderson Bros ect only heard it the odd time

Discogs parano stand shows that they're not knowing any better. Yes indeed it only shows 4 bootlegs entries.

Someone must create the legit issue entry for this rare sole release for the Caneil label. which is some work.

I heard Soul Sam play it frequently, mid 70's did it not get attention at Cleethorpes as well?, around same time as stuff like Emanons Band " Bird Walking "

Never heard it at Cleethorpes remember sammy play Bari Track  there though underated Venue..

Can't say i remember hearing it 75....deffo 76 though..our necknof the woods West Mids, Wulfrun & Civic Hall soul nights, Wolvo for sure...Pep would definitely have been playing it...it wouldn't be unlike Sam playing it, even if it was the instrumental and not the vocal as, he played backing tracks same as any other jock " Soul Step " The Dogs was another white artist track he played....that wouldve been 77/8ish maybe.

Which venue in Cleethorpes? There has been lots of different venues used for allnighters, soul nights and weekenders over the decades, with lots of different promoters.

Not sure why Caneil isn't considered a "real label". I don't think any U.S.  Pop Music stations would have been playing bootlegs in the 60's . The single is at #63-

Thanks, I was hoping you'd put forward your insight.😁Any idea about how he come to do this one off release on the label, or the labels connections?
