Frankie Crocker Posted August 17 Posted August 17 A few more but the memory is a bit hazy. Possibly not exclusives but definitely rare tunes that Butch championed. Antellects- Love Slave Johnny Praye -Can’t Get Too Much Love Gallahads - I’ve Got To Find A Way Stormie Wynters - Life Saver Les Watson & Panthers - Occasionally I Cry Pee Wee, Shuck & Huey - Beside Myself Butch’s playbox has always been packed full of goodies eg Professionals, Ray Agee, Tranells etc…He also gave Walter And The Admirations -Man O Man the push it deserved after I think Pat Brady had spun the other side. Butch’s salesbox would put many DJ’s in the shade. 1

Know there was an alternate acetate about mind with a different mix I thought Imperial C's was first played by Butch after reading his quote in an article about Soul Bowl. "On one occasion i asked John about a record by the Imperial Cs on Phil la Soul, which has appeared on the main sales list the week before; "what's it like", I asked? John's reply was, "give it a play", as it didn't sell and was still in the sales box. Price was £8 and the rest is history!" Did he pass it on to Dave Thorley or had he (Dave) already got a copy Edited August 29 by Theothertosspot

Did he pass it on to Dave Thorley or had he (Dave) already got a copy I heard the Imperial C's first on a Dave Raistrick unknowns tape he sent me in around 1981. Could have sworn it went to Jimmy Wensiora from there as Jimmy was buying loads off Dave at that time. First heard the Blendels "you need love" on that very same tape that Tim B has up for auction at this moment. Cheers Dave

There are a few of those all different cuts of the same song, Richard Searling has one for sure. different version of Ann Haywood on Hondo, and he used to spin a real fast track at the 100 club, with a kinda Latin break, can’t remember the name, it’s on Jet Set records… The alt version of Ann Haywood is by Vikkie Anders on The Cream Co. The flip Is a really nice crossover sound if my memory serves me right Update: I've attached audio of each side that I have on my mac. Crook Your Little Finger I Need A Love So Bad Enjoy. 1 1

Popular Post neckender Posted August 29 Popular Post Posted August 29 Thanks for all the contributions and suggestions. Not all are correct from my own perspective, but that's understandable considering that I have dj'd at the best upfront venues for the last 40 years and I dont expect people to keep a diary of my discoveries. Ill try and get a comprehensive list together to iron out some of the inconsistencies. 21 minutes ago, Simon T said: Searched through some mp3's and one from 20 years ago is labelled as GP TFIR on AUDIODISK. Did he pass it on to Dave Thorley or had he (Dave) already got a copy Correct, I got it off Soul Bowl in 1979. It was a total unknown at the time and I didnt bother to cover it up. The odd copy popped up in the 80s, but I dont remember Dave thorley or Jim wensiora playing it. 3 1

It went into my collection and ultimately later in my playbox. Some years later Tim, on a US trip found an acetate of the record. As I recall it was slightly different than the issue, but sound-wise an inferior cut. 1
