Guest Rich Walker Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Hi there, Wonder if anyone can help me with this Funk 45 related question... Does anyone know which copy of Samson & Delilah And The Boss City People - There's A DJ In Your Town b/w Time To Prove My Love came first? I believe it was issued on both Indigo 315 and Black Prince 315. Since the release numbers match (315) could it mean the labels were linked in some way? Hope someone can help me out with this. Thanks for your time. Best wishes, Rich.Samson___Delilah___There_s_A_DJ_In_Your_Town.mp3

Guest Rich Walker Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 (edited) Cheers for the help Steve. Any idea when they were released? How long did it usually take for a label to pick up a track for national distribution? Within a year or so? Do you have any info on the Black Prince label? Sorry, i'm pretty new to collecting. Thanks again for your help, Rich. Oooh P.S... Just noticed your signature, please send Mr Taylor back to Ull'. We really miss him. Edited March 21, 2007 by Rich Walker

Just noticed your signature, please send Mr Taylor back to Ull'. We really miss him. It would probably have been within weeks. There were about 5 or 6 on Black Prince and all should be obtainable. I did an article on it in one of the mags once, so will try and locate. Cheers Steve Saver Ticket purchased for Mr Taylor, but he's not having any of it....
Guest Rich Walker Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 (edited) Great stuff. Thanks again! Would love to read your article. My copy of There's A DJ In Your Town is on a yellow label, but my friend has it on a red label. Could this have been booted? Or is it just a case of different pressing plants using different labels? Cheers, Rich. Edited March 21, 2007 by Rich Walker
Guest rachel Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Just moving this into the anorak, er, Look At Your Box section.

Different pressing plants - very common at the time......it was cheaper just to ship a tape or master rather than ship thousands of copies round the country (though the mafia made a lot of money doing that).
