AdvancedTactic Posted July 15 Posted July 15 Unfortunately the song actually being played in that Soul Train episode, which was the last episode of the 1991 season, was a song by B Angie B, and not the song playing in that youtube video. Inputting the lyrics into something like shazam or soundhound gives me different artists sampling it, but not the original. It's like soul/funk/disco, though I'm not an expert of genres. Three different artists have sampled the song. They are: "Tony Tone - untitled ass intro". https://youtu.be/URGO9dgqmig?si=vDJWpgDoL-uub1JA "Eli and Six the Northstar - Down & Out". https://youtu.be/nMgpnjEDCVg?si=Zmiqvsoze-MtoGLm "Andy Ashley - Hope You Understand". https://www.amazon.com/Life-Unstable-Explicit-Andy-Ashley/dp/B083H4CX2S Here are my butchered approximation of the lyrics: Quote Hey baby. How you doing? (?) I know you don't want to see my face around here Here I am anyway See... You was digging in my case so bad that I just had to split And when I got out there... I find out That I really love you So here I am I just got on the bus Which means I gotta tell you (?) I wanna be looking at you (?) So if you sit down in that chair over there (?) Baby I think (?) (part of the chorus?) Quote And when I loved you, you were down and out I didn't really mean to No no no Does anyone know this song?
Alan T Posted July 15 Posted July 15 Sounds similar to Lou Rawls Philadelphia tracks of late 70s. Quite a few albums to check but maybe a starting point. He did a lot of things with spoken parts, like this .........
