Djmelismo Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 I´m at work now so don´t have access to the actual 7", but I need some info: I have a Sam Hutchins AGP 45 with "I´m Tired Of Pretending" on one side. When was this 45 released? It doesn´t say on the label. I need to know the year this came out - 196? Has it beeen reissued or can I be confident that this is the original 45? And I final question - this is Sam/Sammie Hutchins who sang with The Masqueraders, right? Cheers Melismo

Cheers Melismo Hi, Don't think this has been reissued or booted - at least, I can;t think of any reason why it might have been, it's a pretty easy to find record. It came out in 1968. Yes, it's the same Sam Hutchins as he who sung with the Masqueraders. I'm pretty sure, in fact, that the Masqueraders back him on at least one side of this record, "Dang Me" (can't recall the other side offhand so I don't know if there's a group vocal on it...) TONE
Sebastian Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 It's from 1969. As it's quite a cheap 45 I don't think it's been booted. Yes, it's the Masqueraders guy.
Sebastian Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Posted at pretty much the same time. Had it down as a 1969 release in my AGP discography, though.
Garethx Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 One of his other 45s on a Bell subsidiary (Mala?), "I Can Make You Happy" is very good.

Djmelismo Posted March 19, 2007 Author Posted March 19, 2007 I've got it as '68 in mine - handbags at dawn? Well, handbags are more sophisticated than pistols 2 votes against 1. Does that make it ´68? Yes, I know it is a cheap item, but me likes it Cheers Melismo
Modernsoulsucks Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Didn't this come out here on Bell around 1968. I coulda sworn I'd played "Dang me" and it sounded like C&W. Am I mixing it up with something else? ROD

Soulfreak Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Dang Me / I'm Tired Of Pretending - AGP 106 / Bell 1004 / Bell 90061 (Fr) Big D Breakdown / I'm The One For You - AGP 120 I Can Make You Happy / I Can't Stop Crying - Mala 599 Besides Roger Miller's 'Dang Me' , the rest of the tracks were written by Harold Thomas & Lee Jones of the Masqueraders, who along with the rest of the group, did any backing vocals... Sam has a powerful voice as anyone who's seen him with the 'Raders can confirm. 'I'm The One for you' is a nice deep track too. Martin.
