Jaco Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Just listening to the Cheques - "Deeper " on Heatwave, makes me wonder, are there many tracks on the scene that feature whistling?
Guest mel brat Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Just listening to the Cheques - "Deeper " on Heatwave, makes me wonder, are there many tracks on the scene that feature whistling? Otis Redding "Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay" springs to mind... Funky Sisters "Do It To It" (AURORA) obviously.

Guest mel brat Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Do It To It - The Funky Sisters - Aurora - 4092 refosoul I nominate the Funky Sisters as THE Northern record for rare and obscure whistlers!
Guest MBarrett Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Thank God for Rufus and Carla. Firstly for being so totally brilliant. And their other legacy of course. I believe they pretty much had the first hit records on Stax. Maybe without them the label wouldn't have lasted . . . . . and all that came after . . . . . !! MB
Guest Carl Dixon Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I've done a 'whistling' track called '14 to 7'. It is a good 5 years old now, but features a Philly style hi hat loop, gutitar and Detroit style Uriel Jones/Pistol Allen drum fills. It takes a while to gather speed, but once it gets there........: www.melkman.com/carlsmusic/detroit/14to7.mp3
