Very Sad news indeed, Jimmy James never let his audience down, I had the good fortune to see him on numerous occasions over the last 50 years and he was a great live performer as well as being a fantastic recording artist, For me he was always underrated but Jimmy could hold his own with the best, some of his recordings are very special in his own unique Style

More sad news

Jimmy James, whose ballad Come To Me Softly won him fans in Jamaica and the United Kingdom, died in London yesterday at age 84.

His daughter, Lauren Mercurius-Mascoll, told the Jamaica Observer that James passed away at Northwick Park Hospital. She said her father had Parkinson’s disease and a heart condition which caused him to retire from performing

We had the honour of Jimmy and the boys being the live band at the evening reception of our wedding. He sang Come To Me Softly as our first dance. What a fabulous experience and what a lovely man RIP Jimmy

Sad news Jimmy James - missed this when it was announced

What memories of 'Help Yourself'? Pop / soul yes but what a tune - I've got a lovely Jamaican 'Tiger' issue of it - Wheel? Maybe Cats / Torch? Wigan later I guess
