David Meikle Posted April 24 Posted April 24 (edited) The internet was a double edged sword. It blew a lot of Soul fans out of the water but today we can hear them all free of charge. Fifty years ago I could never have predicted any of that. Edited April 24 by David Meikle 1

Mark S Posted April 24 Posted April 24 What a cracking bit of film and an insight to a very chilled and cool looking scene.. In my minds eye thought that the NS scene may have gone in a similar direction in my old age. 1
Guest Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Dunno about a chilled scene check out the list of R.I.P at the end of the film scary

I've always enjoyed the range of styles on the alternate sides to Northern 45s I've bought, and love the Sean Hampsey Lowrider Kent compilation CDs. Given the overlap with our scene here in the UK, you've got to love the 'Northern Souleros' tag they've chosen, with the 45 insert graphic too. For me, Lowrider soul is a beautiful side aspect of the soul music I'm into. It's not quite the instant 'grab' of tracks that just sound right irrespective of my ability to dance as I thought I could back in the 70s. But it's brilliantly evocative music that demands your attention, and seeing that video with such committed collectors kind of wakes up your senses. Might have to sort the BBQ skills out! 5
