Dells – Run for cover – Cadet 5551 DJ Ex+ £125
(This group knocked out some top quality soul over many years and this is right up there, floor filler in every respect. 1966 release that sounds every inch crossover. Unusually hard to find DJ copy and in high end condition that I’ve not seen on many sales posts, just minor edge lift that doesn’t affect play)
Evie Sands – Picture me gone – Cameo 413 M- £80
(Quintessential femme northern dancer, such an uplifting track. On that beautifully designed red and black label with brooch. Drill hole)
Jackie Shane – In my tenement / Comin’ down – Sue 788 Ex £150
(Double sider on this fabulous eye catching ‘Big apple’ label, and 2 excellent examples of Northern with that R&B flavour. Minimal light marks on vinyl both sides, run-in grazes on Tenement plays fine Ex+. Labels, X on Tenement, radio station stamp imprint on Comin’ label. Plays Excellent plus on both sides. Bell Sound stamped format that doesn’t seemed to have sold on DISCOGs)
George Freeman – Down and out – Valiant 6039 WD Ex+ £250
(Fabulous big-voiced beat ballad, gotta be right up there in the top 10. Lovely clean demo, just a couple of very light handling / storage lines preventing M-, but it’s a minor visual thing not audio, that’s spot on)
