My favourite soul track of them all is:

THE EXTREMES - HOW I NEED YOUR LOVE on 4J

What's your favourite track of them all - the one on your mind right now. Of course we will all change our minds by about 5 o'clock .... this track really is perfection though.

not got it but same choon by Baby washington is awesome too!

in between tears - baby washingon -

16247 refosoul

Wow, thanks for that! Really good, maybe it's the freacking song that takes out the best of every singer. Still I like more the arrangments of the Chuck's version.

My Baby Washington's personal fave: I Can't Wait Untill I See My Baby's Face on Sue.

Cheers

every things coming up love - David ruffin.. i've been singing it in my head for weeks.. Pure Soul (not when I sing it)

I asked a girl at work yesterday if her Ipod was working ok or if it was playing at the wrong speed...

she said "No its fine why?"

I replied "well it must just be your singing that so out of time then!!!"

She didn't laugh but I did

We all know how our likes change from day to day, from new acquistion to the next buy, but among all these tunes flitting in and out of my consciousness there are three constants, three tunes that I can honestly say that I never tire of, they're not big hitters, but God, I love 'em:

The Vontastics "I Will Always Love You",

Mike and the Censations "Don't Mess With Me"

The Four Pro's "There Must Be A Reason"

Makes me smile just typing 'em out.......

For the past few months my absolute fave track has been Candace Love - Wonderful Night on Aquarius. For me it has everything a Northern soul tune should have....(wait for the slings and arrows of soulies discontent to arrive wicked.gif )

Great tempo to dance to, uplifting subject matter, on the cusp of the 60's to 70's sound transition so it maintains the 60's tyle but with the improving production capabilites. IT's a tune to melt the soul of a cold soulie in a cold place eating a huge tub of Catre' D'or.

And its relatively cheap too :P

For the past two weeks its been

Bobbie Smith - Walk On In To My Heart

bloody marvellous!

Also

Lou Johnston - Magic Potion

probably not my all time faves but they are both climbers!

All time fave has got to be Ritta And the Tiarras - Gone With The Wind

Or is it.......?????????? Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i dont know anymore................

Vontastics this is soul and then some  top tune,

It reminds me of the Temps in power and performance and a must have record in any soul colection.

One that has got a hold of me at the moment is

Clarence Reed & the Delmiros "sooner or later" Selma.

 My choice is not rare, not played anymore (or at least not much) and will most probably be sneered at by all and sundry but it was THE record for me as a 17 year old mod-bod back in the long hot summer of '84 ...I'M SO GLAD - THE FUZZ. Heard it on the 'Keeping the Faith' compilation lp and made a connection with it straight away. All these years later it still brings back fond memories of parties, riding around on my scooter, etc.!

The superb, Paula Parfitt-Love Is Wonderful

Tommorow it will be something else (Vibrating Vibrations-Surprise Party For Baby?) but that's the beauty of having so much great music to choose from.
