Soulfulsolutions Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 (edited) A fine bunch if I say so myself! Some fabulous tracks here and all in lovely condition. Can hold until pay day. Happy to send additional images or sound files. PM any questions or to reserve. Jackie Lee – Darkest days – 11146 WD M- £250 (What an example of timeless Northern Soul, it’s got everything. Gorgeous west coast original) Four Pros – Just another girl / There must be a reason – Carla 2531 WD M- £350 SOLD (Awesome double sider, TBH I’ve always preferred “Reason” but the top sides a banger. East coast demo, so nice) Casanova Two – We got to keep on – Early Bird 49658 Ex+ £275 SOLD (Fantastic oldie, glorious trumpet intro, then the duo strut their stuff. Original copy with matrix number, and Hollywood ‘H’ stamped in run out. M- but Ex+ for the feintest of sleeve lines) Lee Bates – Why don’t you write – Instant 3310 Ex+ £275 SOLD (Just the most fabulous piece of NOLA Soul, this is how you make a Vietnam song hit home, exquisite vocals, horns, piano and elevated girly backing, all components that take this to another level) Theola Kilgore – It’s gonna be alright – Mercury 72564 M- £125 (Some writers are big because they’re, well, just big, and let’s face it’s no surprise why this little number is so cultured, it’s got the Gerry Goffin and Carole King seal of distinction. From the Shirelles to Billy Fury, they’ve done it all, and anyone who can go from this classy soulful femme fatale to the Monkees “Pleasant valley Sunday” gets my vote. Tidy flip as well, on a beautiful red stock copy, with just a drill hole that’s stops me stating its flawless) Sidney Barnes – You’ll always be in style – Red Bird 10039 Ex+ £250 Sid’s the man, fantastic up-tempo belts and braces dancer, and one of only a handful of really true soul releases from the Leiber and Stoller stable) Hal Frazier – After closing time – Reprise 0570 Ex+ dh £175 (Brazen intro, fabulous up-tempo soul. A tape swappers turn up for me from years ago. Rare red stock copy, drill hole) Porgy Williams - Porgy Williams - Lonely man’s hum - Sylves 123 Ex £250 (Wrap yourself up in this bundle of soulful warmth. Sublime vocals laid down over fantastic group harmonies, floating along on a gentle ebb and flow of oohs and aahs) Velvelettes – These things will keep me loving you – Soul 35025 WD Ex £125 (One of the lushest silkiest smoothest of femme dancers to come out of Motown, and on a rarer west coast demo, just one minor scuff that does not affect play) Kim Weston – I’m still loving you – Tamla 54110 WD Ex £150 SOLD (Man, what an outstanding Motown dancer, and still filling floors every time it’s played. Nashville and ARP stamped promo copy. Just a few minor blemishes on the vinyl, but play M-) Velvelettes – Lonely, lonely girl am I / I’m the exception to the rule – V.I.P. 25017 WD Ex+ £225 (Like Kimmy above, a top tune, East coast vinyl demo, thick lined copy) Velvelettes – A bird in the hand (is worth two in the bush) – V.I.P. 25030 WD Ex+ £60 SOLD (Under the radar Motown tune, and yet another blinder from the perfect Velv’s catalogue. Very slight edge lift does not affect play)) Lollipops – Cheating is telling on you – V.I.P. 25051 WD M- £50 SOLD (I’d categorise this as femme crossover, and fine piece of music it is too. Not so common, and nice on white promotional demo. Minor edge lift does not affect play. Ignore the dust, easily wiped off) PayPal by friends please or add 4%, or bank transfer.
