Great work again Yann , wonderful release, and yes mine's pre ordered , isn't this what this sites all about ? this deserves a kick up (split from a news topic) anyone any theories why this is?
Popular Post Twoshoes Posted March 10 Popular Post Posted March 10 I've bought quite a few of the releases on the thread and find it a valuable resource as I don't do facebook or any other soul related sites. I tend to up vote if I like a release and intend to buy, I don't feel the need to comment further though I hadn't considered by commenting it offers validation of the release to the label owner. I doubt people don't comment to keep the release under the radar as it's out there for all to see once posted. I think when hearing a release you either like it or don't and no amount of positive comments would change my opinion. The only result of a quantity of positive comments on limited releases to my mind would be and I'm speculating here people buying to sell on for a profit thus genuine buyers hearing it later missing out should it sell out. 4

Yes you're last paragraph nails it , people miss out and then you see them advertising in the wants section , even though it's been featured

Steviehay Posted March 10 Posted March 10 basically its not on the sales thread its on source thread so i don't usually bother leaving feedback its a hate thing lol
Seano Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Interesting question. I do normally look at the posts specifically because the thread is about new releases. I'm interested in the unreleased older recordings as well as the newly recorded tracks. But I'm probably guilty of just going in and reading/listening more than reacting/commenting. I think that like @Twoshoes, whether I react tends to be driven by if I think I'll buy it, and if so I might leave a comment too. I don't really feel it's fair to the people recording and issuing these records to deliberately note that their record doesn't do it for me, as there will have been a huge amount of work and hope gone into it. I guess another reason I'd not normally leave a negative comment is that my reaction is normally very quick. I click play and it either 'gets me' or I just move on. Don't know about the rest of you here, but while the one that clicks with me tends to stay as one I like, there have been plenty of times when I initially thought a track wasn't that great, but hearing it again at different times I have found it grows on me. 3
Chalky Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I’ve said exactly the same on previous releases when folk are more interested in talking the same old sh*te when far more interesting stuff passes by almost unnoticed
Guest Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Ok my take is there is a reluctance to give an honest opinion on the new releases as the labels are run by people we know. I would prefer it if there was a thread for new soul releases by current artists "Olivia Dean anyone" and another for re-releases and previously unissued titles.
Chalky Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I don’t think it helps having to go on the topic in the forum and find nothing there but a link to the news item which is away from the main forum.

Yeah agree with that, don’t think it needs to be on the forum at all when you are just redirected from there and with nothing to read there

I was thinking along those lines but I am just as happy the way it is now. I think for a separate thread of just current artists to work it would need far greater input from members posting releases they are aware of, in that I'm as guilty as anyone for not contributing. Unless you buy current I'm guessing many would be amazed at the volume of releases that are out there. I wasn't aware of Olivia Dean, just checked her out on youtube , lovely voice, nice tunes but not something I would buy or listen to at home but thank you for the heads up.
