Soul16 Posted February 7 Posted February 7 How sad . Tony sang great songs over massive productions, what a brilliant vocalist he was. A Northern Soul legend and so much more besides. R.I.P.
Jessie Pinkman Posted February 7 Posted February 7 (edited) I spent a couple of hours with Tony walking round Cleethorpes one Saturday morning looking for a shop that sold film for his camera. Every shop we entered he introduced himself, told the staff what he wanted the film for and where he was performing that night. He was a true gentleman. Very sad news for a soul legend. Rip. Dobber Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Saw him once at grt Yarmouth weekender maybe 1989/1990? Apart from chuck Jackson I found him to be the most entertaining and mesmerising, all is music is very inventive and slightly left of typical soul music! big loss rip

Geeselad Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) A real one off with a distinctive voice, that no-one could emulated. Edited February 8 by Geeselad
Rick Scott Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Sadly in life we don't miss something or Somebody until they are gone and assume they will always be around us. This is a very sad Era which we live in and our Heroes are leaving us when we least expect it, but we forget they were older than our selves when we were spinning their records or dancing to them when we were out every weekend and enjoying their music. To say i am very sad at this moment is a huge understatement. And I suppose we can all be Grateful Tony and all our other heroes have Left us with such wonderful Music to remember them by, Thank You One And All for that, RIP Tony Middleton A Big Man With a Big Heart and a Big Voice and a wonderful soul. Gone to join all our other long lost Heroes. Condolences to His Family And Friends 3
Gaz T Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Just a lovely man Spanish maiden Paris blues to the end of the earth 3
Popular Post Simsy Posted February 10 Author Popular Post Posted February 10 We had the pleasure of meeting Tony in New York a few years back, we went to see him perform with his trio and they were great. After the performance we were chatting and I told him he had helped my marriage, as when me and our lass were courting, I’d sing Paris Blues in the shower to woo her lol. “Paris Blues, follow me each place I go”.. He seemed momentarily taken aback by my impromptu outburst, but smiled and I think he knew we held him in high esteem. What a guy and what a true soul giant he was. 5
