Sebastian Posted February 7 Posted February 7 (edited) Was going through some records here to prepare for auction, and I think I’ve come across a previously undocumented 45 on Checker. It’s obviously gospel but might be of interest anyway on here. Appears to be the last ever release on the label. I can only find info on ACK-1264 existing. This is ACK-1265. Soul Stirrers - Christ Is All / Must Jesus Bear The Cross Alone - CHECKER, ACK-1265 Anyone else out there with a copy? Edited February 8 by Sebastian 1

John Reed Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Both of these releases have a 1977 date. All these sides were on their 1974 LP - Christ Is All, so that's a 3 year retrospective release. Maybe they tried to cash-in and repackage songs they already paid for.
Sebastian Posted February 11 Author Posted February 11 (edited) My Soul Stirrers 45 mentioned above is now listed on ebay in case anyone is interested in owning it. Edited February 11 by Sebastian
Daniel Nooger Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Just ran across this thread. Very interesting to say the least! I was at A/P during this time doing my blues reissues (as recounted in my book Belly of The Beast – Chess Records – The All Platinum Years), and until I saw Steve’s book, I never knew that Mancel Warrick had actually managed to get any Chess gospel material reissued. Knowing the way A/P operated, I would imagine they pressed up a minimal run, maybe a couple of hundred copies of each single, and that they never went any further than sitting under his desk. 2
