Guest Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 help us out mate says first played at Stafford by Dave Thorley i say a wigan spin first with a beer riding on it definite firsty play place is of most importance
Guest Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 WHO IS THE RECORD BY - DOESNT RING ANY BELLS
Mike Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 Black Eyed Peas being the group think a 1970 release on Ultra City Funny enough on top of current uk charts is group callled the same Suppose Black eyed peas must be a sort of US equivelant to "mushy peas"..... maybe
Guest in town Mikey Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 I can remember Dave playing this, definetly in the early 80s, not sure whether it was at Stafford or not. Lots of the stuff played at Stafford had airings at the casino and didn't capture the imagination. That is, until us more discernable soulies from Stafford caught on and helped make them the classics they are today.
Guest in town Mikey Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 There was supposed to be a smiley in that post. As you dont have a *Tongue-in-cheeky*.
Guest Posted November 18, 2003 Posted November 18, 2003 Anyone got an MP3 or if not an RA they can send me? send to chalky101@btinternet.com if you can Cheers chalky
Guest Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 To my knowledge this is mainly a Stafford record spun by Dave T. but as mikey points out lots of the early stafford records were played at Wigan in its final years (i got the tapes). I spun it a couple of times at the CSC some years ago but it didn't take with the main dancers so i binned it. I think the flip side is a live recording or crowd over dubbed etc...nice track as well mind. Anyway i'll go with Stafford as thats where it got really spun. Greg
grant Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 Thats right Greg - a lot of early Stafford sounds had previously been broke or attempted to be broke at the Casino such as Smallest Man Alive, also remember 'Stafford' biggies such as Betty Lloyd, Ray Agee, Executive 4, Chaumonts instr., etc being spun in the latter days of the Casino
Guest Kolla Posted December 12, 2003 Posted December 12, 2003 Chalky - try Hammy via Soul Talk for an RA. He's definately got a copy (well he did have earlier this year).
Liamgp Posted December 26, 2003 Posted December 26, 2003 Or you can pay £150 at Manship's for the 45 itself. Expensive but tempting...
Guest Posted December 27, 2003 Posted December 27, 2003 This record was played at Wigan for sure, but never did much there, it was around in boxes, common sight. That kind of thing.
Dave Thorley Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 I first played this at the Ritz, after Stafford had finished, late 80's
