Black Eyed Peas being the group

think a 1970 release on Ultra City

Funny enough on top of current uk charts is group callled the same

Suppose Black eyed peas must be a sort of US equivelant to "mushy peas"..... maybe

I can remember Dave playing this, definetly in the early 80s, not sure whether it was at Stafford or not. Lots of the stuff played at Stafford had airings at the casino and didn't capture the imagination.

That is, until us more discernable soulies from Stafford caught on and helped make them the classics they are today.

To my knowledge this is mainly a Stafford record spun by Dave T. but as mikey points out lots of the early stafford records were played at Wigan in its final years (i got the tapes). I spun it a couple of times at the CSC some years ago but it didn't take with the main dancers so i binned it. I think the flip side is a live recording or crowd over dubbed etc...nice track as well mind. Anyway i'll go with Stafford as thats where it got really spun.

Thats right Greg - a lot of early Stafford sounds had previously been broke or attempted to be broke at the Casino such as Smallest Man Alive, also remember 'Stafford' biggies such as Betty Lloyd, Ray Agee, Executive 4, Chaumonts instr., etc being spun in the latter days of the Casino

Chalky - try Hammy via Soul Talk for an RA. He's definately got a copy (well he did have earlier this year).

This record was played at Wigan for sure, but never did much there, it was around in boxes, common sight. That kind of thing.

Black eyed peas......smallest man alive.......

Smallest man alive ( repeat x 4)

I look out over the land,

the land that they say I own,

it's so big, it's so great, but still i'm so all alone.

Smallest man alive ( repeat x 2 )

A long way across the sea,

they got a river named after me,

i was the king, i was everything,

but still i'm sad as i can be..

Don't you know i'm the..

smallest man alive ( repeat x 5 )

I can buy anything in the world,

*****************pearls

but you made me realise i'm the smallest man alive,

Smallest man alive x 2

You could have had fame and power,

you could have had the Eiffel tower,

you could have had the true mona lisa,

you could have had the tower of pisa,

but you kept your love a side,

made me the smallest man alive,

Smallest man alive repeat to fade out........

P. T. Barnum & General Tom Thumb

Tom's the smallest man alive. Well he was at the time. He's the one on the right btw. He should take that cap off, it makes him look silly.

Not sure if that's true I remember a guy at Wigan called Matchie from Rotheram - good dancer - sure he was smaller than Tom Thumb

Seem to recall that the Ghetto Boys - Handwriting on the Wall was a Casino spin too (amongst as you say many other) always loved this when Guy was playing it at Stafford
