There have been many great soul records since the sixties.  

What would you personally consider to be the best double sided 45?

Two that immediately spring to mind from different eras are -

Magnetics – Count The Days / When I'm With My Baby

Rose Batiste – Hit & Run / I Miss My Baby

I think you'll find that most 45s are double-sided ... :rolleyes:

I guess today's folk are too lazy to do their own discovering , instead relying on the tedious repetitive posts regarding favourite this , best that ... :sleep3:

If you don't like or appreciate a topic on here then simply don't revisit it

There's a wide range of members on here, which means in theory that there should be a wide range of topics

Rather than calling out other members topics, why not start your own?

Here we are looking for 45's with two great sides, I have owned thousands of records over the past forty years but not many I would consider to be double siders.  In the very early days we would flip the record over to listen to the b side, and those old enough will remember double A sides.

As above the topic was approached in 2004, has time stood still since then?

I regularly see records of interest on here, even after all these years I find music interesting.

People taking the time to share their knowledge is always appreciated and maybe there is something out there we have overlooked?

There were so very many 45s with super-good songs on both sides (many, many on Motown's labels.  I'd have to think for years on it, or need to look at all 40,000+ of mine (which are scattered in 5 places on two different continents).  I'd be long dead before I could determine which actually is my favourite 2-sided 45.  What comes to mind first is "Open The Door To Your Heart"/"Our Love Is In The Pocket" by Darryl Banks.

The Temptations' "My Baby"/"Don't Look Back"

The Spinners' (Detroit of course!)  "Truly Yours"/"Where Is That Girl"

Mary Wells' "What's Easy For Two, Is So Heard For

One"/"You Lost The Sweetest Boy"

The Distants' "Come On"/"Always"

The Uptones' "I'll Be There"/No More"

The Shepprds' "Tragic"/Feel Like Lovin' "

Actually, I think I liked the combo of "Golden Teardrops" and "Carried Away" by The Flamingos on Chance Records from 1953 a bit more.  😋

The Five Keys' "Red Sails In The Sunset"/"Be Anything, But Be Mine"

The Five Keys' "My Saddest Hour"/"Oh Babe"

Dionne Warwick's "Don't Make Me Over"/"I Smiled Yesterday"

The Cinderellas' "Baby, Baby, I Still Love You"/"Please Don't Wake Me"

Frances Nero's "Keep On Lovin' Me"/"Fight Fire With Fire"

Terri Bryant's "Geni"/"When I'm In Your Arms"

I could spend what's left of my life listing them continuously, and fall into a heap from exhaustion.  So, I'll stop here.

 Bobby Bland – Call On Me / That's The Way Love Is

Edwin Starr – I Am The Man For You Baby / My Weakness Is You

Bud Harper – Mr. Soul / Let Me Love You

The Steinways – My Heart's Not In It Anymore / You've Been Leadin' Me On

PLUS there's loads more that have a great dance side + a great deep side on the same single.

You must be REALLY young if a couple years apart seems like in different eras to you!  At my age, two years goes by like the batting of an eye.  I admit though, that I have records on my list from 2 different eras.

To futher explain, Rose Batiste I first heard in the 70's and the Magnetics 80's/90's, albeit to my knowledge both 60's tunes.

Now in my early sixties, I like to look back and reflect.  I'm as passionate about the music today as was when I started out, albeit a recovering vinyl junkie lol.

Well, I think you maybe quite correct in your assertion regarding the usual practice of 45's being double sided. Apart from that your post is rather unpleasant, and particularly mean to Tony, the thread starter.

Great track, brings back great memories of the Volumes at Prestatyn, also I had a chance to purchase this from a guy visiting Richard Shaw, as some of you may remember was a record seller from Congleton many years ago.  Quite often you would meet well known DJ's and record dealers in his shed at the bottom of his garden where he stored his records. It's been a strange journey at times.

Bought the Precisions as a new UK release back in late 1967 .... can't say I ever remember playing the B side.
