The Night Frankie Valli and the four seasons

I dare anyone to reply to me. As no one  has made any comment to any of my suggestions it would be nice  to know if any of my replies on this topic mean anything to any of you.
I have  been on the scene since 1972 would be nice to get some reaction if only negative thanks

kind regards

First heard this in a Disco in Germany when I was 15 on a football Tour, 1967.   The DJ played it about every 20 mins .

MOVE  -  JESS &  JAMES and the JJ BAND,   I think it was on MGM a yellow label, ordered it when I got back to Sheffield.

CURTIS MAYFIELD - MOVE ON UP - OK not technically NS but a stone cold classic.

Don't really understand some peoples view on what qualifies as a NS sound, whether you like and rate the record or not,  even it is seen as commercial or a small chart hit, Move On Up was played at the Casino, so surely that only defines it as a northern sound ?!? Too many on here commenting on things that they haven't got the experience or time spent on the scene to really form a true and valid opinion.

Hi Hill868

Your correct, i was born way after those early days, so didn't know that was played, hence my "post" post comment. I said that simply to save face, ie if i feel id just put CM MOU down id get tonnes of negative comments for even mentioning that - Yep lack of confidence and knowledge is correct.

More of a launch than an intro, we have lift off, No Time - John & Wierdest

& one of the happiest records on the planet must be Lou Roberts - Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Love with an intro that could cut through anything. If this was played on radio one it would stop everyone in their tracks " Oh this is what music is" 😁

Anyway back to the point, although 'Darkest Days' is in my top 10,  but this is worth a listen.

The kettle drums on 'You Can't Mean It' give its introduction an impact to be compared with any other. The Invitations' 'Skiing In The Snow' also uses them to effect, but Chapter Five deliver a real crashing storm of a clarion call that grabbed attention on first hearing, which in my case was when Steve Whitttle played it on Radio Stoke, circa mid-eighties.

There are lots of songs that spring to mind and I’m one of those people that find it very difficult to place artistic things higher than one another because I usually like them for different reasons but here are a handful that do it for me that haven’t been mentioned yet.

Tears Of Joy - Ray Merrell

Danny White - Keep My Woman Home

September Jones - I’m Coming Home

Woman, Love Thief - Stemmons Express/Such Misery - The Precisions

Do You Think There’s A Chance - Luther Ingram

Got To Have Your Love - Roy Roberts

An instrumental and very long intro

Blew my mind first time I heard it at Bradford queen's hall. I was always really dark there, the floor cleared and just a few stayed on, the dancing, that fast floaty thing, you never ever see now, amazing memory.
