(Just the most stunning out and out femme Northern pounder I know, from the intro it’s a banger. In top condition)

 

Dee Dee Warwick – Monday, Monday – Mercury 1061 M- UK £50

(Can’t quite match the one above for presence on the scene, but a lovely tune that amplifies her vocals, great take of the Mamas and Papas tune. In top condition. If you want both Dee Dee’s together, its £375)

 

Carol Anderson – It shouldn’t happen to a dog – Mid-Town 270 Ex+ £125

(Of “Sad girl” and “Taking my mind off love” fame, this 1972 Detroit release from Carol brings 2 great sides together. Not often seen for sale and a bit under the radar)

 

Artistics – This heart of mine – Okeh 111809 WD M- £125

(One of the Okeh greats, mid-tempo magic on purple wax with the rare Picture Sleeve in Ex)

 

 

Insiders – I’m just a man – RCA 9225 WD M- £100

(Been an understudy to other well-known RCA releases, great upbeat Northern personified dancer, on a lovely promo)

 

Hal Frazier – After closing time – Reprise 0570 Ex+ £185

(I’ve had a few, and seen plenty of other promos, but having followed this one for many years since it was tape tune, I’ve learnt you don’t see the stock copies turn up often. Powerhouse dancer, one of the loudest horn intros ever, gives the Majestics a run for their money!!! Drill hole)

 

Now the obscure one,

Unknown Artist – Diamond soul – Jacobs Ex £200

(Super rare independent output, used to advertise and promote Jacobs Jewellers, which may possibly have been based in Jacksonville, Florida since around 1878. On this short track there is a real star quality about the vocalist, on a short sharp soulful composition. They must be a known outfit? A cool opportunity for someone who wants to style their event or radio show around a strapline, without going to a studio! Sound file on request)
