Innersection – I’m in debt to you / Let me love yuh – Group 5 101 WD M- £1100

Fantastic 70s out of Memphis, both sides as we all know are top drawer dancers that’ll do anyone’s decks proud. Very sparse information on this group which appears to be their only work on a unique to them label. Produced by Tom Nixon, a jack of all trades; producer, arranger, writer and engineer for various labels including MGM, Venture, We Produce and Motown before achieving the lofty height of executive status at Stax no less.

The 45 has a very slight lift on edge that does not affect play on what is a M- surface. Flip label has title penned over, I guess this was the side a DJ wasn’t to play! That’s the aesthetics I must mention, but its what’s in the grooves that counts!

Gambrell’s – Jive talk – Pioneer 2109 M- £350

Renowned Detroit girl group at their catchy, vibrant, glorious best, serving up an exceptional dancer on Gary Rubins own label. Pat Hunt, along with sisters Sharon and Sandra Gambrell originally formed a backing group working with Deon Jackson, but they or Ollie McLaughlin quickly realised their potential as artists, recording for the Carla label, which included the 1966 classic “You better move”, before this single Pioneer release, and moving on to the Cub label an MGM sub in 68' with “Love is in the air”.

Beautiful M- copy, there’s something about Gold label. The only thing to report is light bubbling from the vinyl from pressing process, that does not affect play in any way.
