John Hart Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 Rare Northern soul. com are currently advertising with soundbite Paula Parfitt "Bring me Home"C/u . As a Brainteaser can you work out who it is ? I have worked it out, It would cost you 850 pounds to find out, Cheers John.
Headsy Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 It's a pop record and not even a good one , no wonder the scene is the way it is IMO 1
Greedy Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 (edited) Sounds like Cilla Black to me. Could be wrong ? Edited October 28, 2023 by mick
Soul16 Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 Seems odd to cover up a (not very good) version of a well known Jay and The Americans 45 and then expect to get £850 for it.

Solution Popular Post Soulfinger Posted October 28, 2023 Solution Popular Post Posted October 28, 2023 Bobbie Ember - Why don't you bring me home? it's simply awful. 6
Popular Post Chalky Posted October 28, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 28, 2023 Utter utter drivel. Why cover up something so crap and known? Anyone who pays £8.50 for that dross wants their heads looking at. I did n’t think their was much hope for all-nighters but If that is getting plays at nighters then all hope is lost. 6
Woodbutcher Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 Last two on PS made £30.00 , and that's a tenner too much ... 1
Kathryn Magson Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 (edited) Found it on you tube - it's bloody awful! Edited October 28, 2023 by Kathryn Magson
Mal C Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 This one? a so, so sixties pop record...got bugger all to do with Northern Soul... Says "Samantha appeared on stage and on TV alongside some of the biggest names of the decade, including Val Doonican, Arthur Askey, Ken Dodd and Simon Dee".
Kenb Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 I doubt this would get played at a nighter/or real deal venue. Although watzit (Ms Junoff) and many others ‘did get a go’. I quite like it. But I’d leave if I heard it out at a venue.
Shinehead Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 A bit obvious why he won't bring her home her singing (if you can call it that) drove him mad. Northern Soul it's going backwards to the pop years at Wigan if that's getting plays .
Popular Post Dobber Posted October 28, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 28, 2023 It’s not even a good 60’s tune let alone a chance of northern soul status! cover up! I would cover it up with a spar carrier bag and chuck it in the bin! 4

Hooker1951 Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 What a load of rubbish, pathetic , come on we are all better that surely if not let’s bring it to an end now before we all committed suicide. ML 1

He sells “northern soul” records and with it being “covered up” he is hoping to sell to some unsuspecting Dj on the “scene” I guess. Edited October 29, 2023 by Chalky
Ian Parker Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 i will follow him, peggy march city lights , jerry naylor tell me what he said , shapiro one more tear, barbara cooper i could go on, all of the above are no better than that shocker posted above. dreadful. time to put the SOUL back , into Northern..... 1
Keamus Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 All the above are better than the Bobbie Ember abomination.
Popular Post Woodbutcher Posted October 29, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 29, 2023 It's not the fact that it's a shite pop tune that's the issue , it's the fact that the robbing bastard is trying to sell a thirty quid record to some unsuspecting sap for £850 that sticks in my craw ... ! 11 1
Corbett80 Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 (edited) This bloke has been trying this stuff on for years, no one ever touches these comedy 45s he tries to sell - to my knowledge. As Benji said one chancer trying it on doesn’t mean the scene is f*cked. Plenty of other things that could screw it other than this guy’s antics. Fully agree it isn’t pleasant to think he would try and take someone for that much money though. Edited October 29, 2023 by Corbett80 3

About sums it up, if I was listening to that to see if I'd buy at a car boot it wouldn't get past the ten second mark.
Tricky Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Well to contribute to this negatively. Just as bad are the crappy out and out garage records being passed off as soul!!! Please please please open your eyes to the thousands of under/never played cheap soul records out there. And stop trying to be a thingy waver. Its unsightly at our age. 2

Popular Post Marktsoulman Posted October 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 30, 2023 (edited) Perhaps the attraction of such a “unique” tune is the anticipation for the Sonic Wax house band remake Mark T Edited October 30, 2023 by Marktsoulman 4
Mikehump Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Mmmmm... I collect soul, northern soul, R&B and 60's girl singers. For me this is definitely in the latter category. That isn't so say its a bad record (a bit formulaic IMHO), but it sure ain't northern. Mike 1
