Funky Si
I've been asked to DJ at a (non-NS) friend's birthday party & am thinking of doing a 50 floorfillers from 50 years type set. I want to do it all off original (US or UK) vinyl (maybe the more recent stuff from CD) & I have a fair collection of 60s 70s 80s all genres. Unlike some people on here, I don't have £1,000s to spare! I'm not spending more than a fiver per item & ideally it will all either already be in my collection or will be available at a boot sale or charity shop. So ....... this is what I have so far - suggestions please!! 1957 Reet Petite - Jackie Wilson 1958 Tears On My Pillow - Little Anthony & The Imperials 1959 C'mon Everybody - Eddie Cochrane 1960 Stay - Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs 1961 Blue Moon - Marcells 1962 Green Onions - Booker T & the MGs 1963 Can I Get A Witness - Marvin Gaye 1964 My Girl - The Temptations 1965 Roadrunner - Jr Walker & The Allstars 1966 This Old Heart of Mine - Isley Brothers 1967 Shake (live) - Otis Redding 1968 Dance to the Music - Sly & the Family Stone 1969 Higher and Higher - Jackie Wilson 1970 Band Of Gold - Freda Payne 1971 Theme From Shaft - Isaac Hayes 1972 Get On The Good Foot - James Brown .. or .. Guest WPaulVanDyk
2006 - Kirk Franklin - Lookin For You to me it's a great tune and one of the type you can imagine getting on Trevor Nelson's show where he don't play too many oldies but would say this is a monster on the Northern scene now.
