Pete S Posted March 8, 2007 Author Posted March 8, 2007 40 odd items and a couple of mentions, not 40 mentions or references!
Guest uroffal Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 40 odd items and a couple of mentions, not 40 mentions or references! TBH I'm not sure what the difference is? One mention or 40 mentions you're still doing it, but you were pretty quick to make a point about it on my sales, which has probably lost me at least one sale. You're still using John's prices as a 'guide' to highlight the cheap price of the copy you're selling.

How would that contribute to you losing sales??? (I'm sorry if it has, obviously)
Guest uroffal Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I said to you - What would you do without the aid of Manship's book or website? How would that contribute to you losing sales??? (I'm sorry if it has, obviously) Actually you edited your post to say that - what you actually said, and what I replied to was the following (it is clear from reading the thread as I qouted your remark in my initial reply): "Do you price anything without the aid of Manship's book or website?" You then later argued that in your opinion the Herbert Hunter record was the one that made you comment, because it is not rare. As I said I'd already had and accepted an offer on that record (which was close to the asking price), for someone as well known and respected on here as you are I think that was wrong. I would never, ever on a thread selling records say that I felt a record was overpriced and not rare as this could obviously influence a buyer and I personally do not think that is acceptable. Of course you have the right to your opinion, but to air that when someone is genuinely trying to sell an item I think may have scuppered that sale. I could say this everytime someone lists a record for sale, but wouldn't becasue it is up to the market to determine whether that record is worth that much or not - my opinion is neither here nor there.
Pete S Posted March 8, 2007 Author Posted March 8, 2007 Actually you edited your post to say that - what you actually said, and what I replied to was the following (it is clear from reading the thread as I qouted your remark in my initial reply): "Do you price anything without the aid of Manship's book or website?" That is true but there had been no replies whatsoever when I edited it to what it says now. I would have preferred to have taken the discussion away from it being on your sales page. It wasn't just me keeping the discussion going.
Pomonkey Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 You're missing mentioning the deep flip on the Jimmy Tate that a lot of people are really into Pete. Any way to hear the flip of Wilma Scott - interested, needs to be an mp3 or yr podcast format, can't open the regularly posted ones here at work....
Neiljon31 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I think the idea of a sales podcast is brilliant. I have'nt put it on me ipod yet but will later for me walk to work tomorrow, nice one.
paultp Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 I think the idea of a sales podcast is brilliant. I have'nt put it on me ipod yet but will later for me walk to work tomorrow, nice one. I remember going to Cleethorpes one year with the whole of my sales box recorded onto mini-disc, when someone didn't know something I could pass them the headphones, look up which track it was (oh yes, it was cross referenced ) and then play it to them. I would like to say it helped my sales but actually when I suggested they listen to it on mini disc, for most people I might as well have said "This reindeer will now tap out the beat for you". Modern technology - who needs it.
