Mixed Sugar – It’s a bad feeling / Fifteen ain’t young no more – F.G.S. 423

Funky crossover beast and one of Reggie Garland’s finest moments, which is saying  lot. The flip has always been somewhat overlooked but is definitely worth checking out. Styrene press as are all copies.

Visual grade: EX

€550

Carolyn Champion – Look what you’ve done to our love / Am I your woman, lover or friend – Molly-Jo 1007

Deepest of the deep, and also pretty damn rare, Georgia soul with an equally impressive sister funk flip. Surface looks pretty clean apart from one 2mm circular area around the minute mark with what looks like superficial marks but is probably a pressign issue as the flipside displays the same issue. Nothing to really worry about but worth mentioning for a record in this price range.

Visual grade: Strong VG

€500

The Last Generation – Just a chance in life / You’re all I need – Last Generation 308047

Modern banger from Michigan. Even the reissues are going for decent loot nowadays but this a super clean original. Not sure if everyone is aware of the cosmic modern dancer on the flip?

Visual grade: M-

€350

Colette Kelly – City of fools / Long and lonely world – Volt 4018 DJ Copy

Northern staple and the only solo outing on wax of this Baltimore singer, which is a shame for such an accomplished vocalist.

Visual grade: VG+

€125

Flesh and Blood – Natural man / Freedom – Universal Audio 55404

Northern tune hiding on the flipside of an obscure Xian rock 45 from Minneapolis

Visual grade: VG+

€100

Sonny Ozuna – Smile now, cry later / Hopeless case – Key-Loc 1002

Classic Chicano ballad. My old play copy. Superficial marks but plays very well.

Visual grade: Strong VG

€80

Jan Bradley – Behind the curtains / Pack my things – Night Owl 1055 DJ Copy

Super soulful popcorn on a cool white demo.

Visual grade: VG+

€70

Burden Lifters – People in the world have changed / God is not like man – Falling Star 500

Quality Virginia gospel R&B that doesn’t tend to pop up in this condition. Beautiful copy with just a couple of small patches of hazing NAP.

Visual grade: EX, minor warp

€70

Mighty Clouds of Joy – Glow love / I made a step – Myrrh 244

Uplifting modern gospel winner. Edge warp produces a swoosh during run-in but the tune itself plays nicely as you can hear.

Visual grade: EX, edge warp

€70

Falcons – (I’m a fool) I mut love you / Love, love, love – Big Wheel 321

Heavyweight Detroit 60s soul in excellent nick.

Visual grade: EX

€60

Debbie S – Try my love / Beware – Flaming Arrow 226

Crossover beauty from the Flaming Arrow haul from a few years back. Copies are drying up (this is my last one from the 25 count box) so it’s advised to get one now to avoid regrets.

Visual grade: M-

€50

Gwen McCrae – Keep the fire burning (mono/stereo) – Atlantic 7-89910

I think some Dj played this at some point, don’t remember who. Anyway, a slice of greatness that’s pretty rare on a 45 and a beautiful copy.

Visual grade: M-

€50

Sweet Fever – Please be in my dreams / Hard to end – Shadowfax 7052-22

Uptempo funky AOR obscurity outa Mississippi.

Visual grade: VG+

€50

Limmie Funk Ltd. – Can’t turn you loose / Saturday night’s the night – Psycho/Super Disco Edits 6

Limited 2014 release of thi previously unreleased stepper. One of the first on the Super Disco Edits label but it’s worth delving into their whole back catalogue to pick up some of the more recent ones as well

Visual grade: M-

The Three Of Us – Dream come true Pt I/II – Hilton’s Concept 1401

Soul-jazz outing with crisp drums from the DC legend.

Visual grade: M-

Atmospheric Texas gospel rarity with a stunning vocal workout.

Obscure deep soul cut, on a seldom seem issue copy with the teener flip.

Raw gospel R&B scorcher in top condition.

Visual grade: M-, minor warp

The Pharcyde – Runnin’ / Emerald butterfly – Delicious Vinyl 7-104

Doesn’t need any introduction I guess. Limited 2005 issue on blue vinyl.

Visual grade: VG+/VG+

€30

Pete Rock – War / Meccalicious – HipHopSite.com 0015

Peak Pete Rock on this withdrawn 45 that was later repressed with a different A-side. This is the version you need though.

Visual grade: M-

€25

Joyce Kennedy – Does anybody love me / The hi-fi albums and I – Blue Rock 4023

Mid-sixties femme soul with a strong backing that also came out as the flip side of ‘I’m a good girl’.
