Owd Codger Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 (edited) When I started, I had an exercise book and had to seek out adverts in record Mirror, NME etc. No internet, fanzines, really. Only 13/14, I didn't know where to find this stuff really. Gaps were usually found in Barry's Record shop on Blackfriars, listed in his hand written exercise book of ALL UK releases. Even then, it was difficulty. I had about 4 titles for Smokey's " whole lot of shaking in my heart.....Since i met you, since you've been gone, since I lost you etc. Great days! Eddie T Posted September 19, 2023 Author Posted September 19, 2023 Be worth a fair bit if you still had them really hard to find now
Owd Codger Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 I was in Manchester and spotted a record fair. A stall had a lot of Motown. I'd stopped years previous and couldn't believe some prices. I asked the dealer ( Brighton I think) how much he would give me for certain TMGs...Barbara McNair, Billy Eckstine, Contours, Hit Pack...nearly all of them. I don't think he believed me. I lived 15 minutes walk away...went home and put the lot in a suitcase and returned to the fair. We split the lot into groups A, B, C of rarity etc. Walked out with about £300. I think I had a few holidays on it.
