Hello, hope somebody can help me identify a cover version of The Temptations song "Ain't no sun since you've been gone"  ( other versions of this tune include Gladys Knight, the Supremes, Chuck Jackson, Dusty Springfield, etc. This is a male version, group, quite a good stab at it I think. NOT the Dynamics,. Mid tempo item .

On the old tape I had, it was given the name "Originals"  but clearly isn't the Motown Originals.

Thanks for any help

Re Motown...Norman Whitfield , he re-tooled his songs a lot, spread around various artists. Unusually ,on this song  he cut it twice on Gladys Knight..1966 ( Everybody needs love lp) and 1969 ( Nitty Gritty lp)....completely different arrangements.

Also, according to DFTMC, Gladys' version was first...before The Temptations in 1967.

There was a version of "Ain't No Sun..." by a group called the Originals (not the Motown group) -

Cleveland, Ohio group.  Think the black label looks better

This Originals is probably one of the "two groups" mentioned in this article (Cashbox  November 18, 1967)

(some of this) is actually accurate. One of the bands may have been By Popular Demand, they are also listed on the Buckeye Beat website. Rick Auerbach had been in the Cellmates with Tampa Lann. They were best known for being high school classmates with Eric Carmen (Raspberries/solo hits), who mentioned them in his autobiography.

Gari was the singer for the Other Ones/Players IV "The Two Of Us". That record was one of his productions, recorded with studio musicians.
