I am anticipating my copy of the 2-CD set! Great tracks!

Saundra visited the UK in the early 90's. I have very fond memories of spending time with a very lovely lady with some very funny early Motown stories ! There something about her voice which just makes me purr.....looking forward to this compilation a LOT...well overdue.

ANY ONE CHECKED OUT THERE LUMMTONE STUFF? BIT OF A BUZZ ON ONE TRACK IN PARTICULAR -LOST MY LOVE IN THE BIG CITY,NICE TRACK VASTLY UNDERRRATED OUTFIT.

BAZ A.

Don't think this is the same outfit Baz......the Motown group hail from Detroit and cut some sides for the label as the Downbeats in the late 50s early 60s before changing their name to The Elgins....

The Lummtone group possibly come from LA and are probably the same group which also cut for Valiant..."You Found Yourself Another Fool"/"Street Scene".

...and also on Titan and Flip (several singles on the former, the great "Uncle Sam's Man" on the latter) - all these Elgins are, give or take the odd personnel change, essentially the same core group as the Valiant and Lummtone act.

There are several groups who went by the name Elgins.

One on Congress. Another who recorded on Titan, Valiant, Double Shot, Flip, Lantham & Lummtone, as already mentioned.

The Motown Elgins (VIP, Tamla) who previously recorded as the Five Emeralds on SRC and later on Peacock as the Downbeats.

There's the Elgins on Nite who were Little Tommy & Elgins. Also Johnny Lee Johnson and the Elgins and of course there's the Temptations who were once known as the Elgins.
