Sir Guy On Dpg

Recommended Posts

Pulled out a ' 45 yesterday that I hadn't played for ages ,Sir Guy and The Rocking Cavaliers " My Sweet Baby " /" Funky Virginia " DPG 801 .The top side is in that Stafford crossover kinda style , whilst the flip side is in a great Deep Funk meets Northern vein , and far better than the title suggests .Any one got an opinion on this disc , and whats it worth ? Many thanks ,Eddie

Funky Virginia is OK - it's got some pretty awful lyrics!

"Have you ever been to hip Virginia where the people are gay?"

There's another Sir Guy on DPG (DPG 102) "Let Home Cross Your Mind Pt1" & "I Need You Baby" - which is, in my opinion, better.

Don't know what either is worth.

I agree. 'Let Home Cross Your Mind' is fantastic, although the pressing has alot to be desired.

I believe it's about $250 for a copy these days.

It's not as good as his "Let Home Cross Your Mind" 45 on the same label, but still a good 45. :wicked:

I prefer "Funky Virginia" over "My Sweet Baby". Value wise about £15-£25.

Brilliant record...............price depends on whether it is the local issue or the release nationally distributed by Atco...........not much innit tho', cant find the record in VA tho', found mine in Florida of all, places, probably all in the UK.

Hope this helps

Guest sigher the gutter snype

yeah the atco backed dpg one seems to be a much better pressing with the "funky virginia" drums a lot louder than the local pressing.

ive also got another one by him called "fricky frog" on dpg, dont know if that is a type mistake or the actual title
